about getting older.
I can't remember that shit either.
Unless the fight was really memorable because the other person got nasty. In which case I just put them on ignore. But I try not to unless necessary.
In general, though, I can disagree with people and not hold grudges. And the same as you, I can disagree in one thread and agree in another. Sometimes I wonder if people think I have an evil twin or something....

I had a couple of people on ignore for so long I couldn't remember why. So I thought, OK...I'll take them off.
Well. It didn't take long for me to be reminded why they were there.
But at least I can feel OK about trying...
PS...I actually don't mind getting riled. It's sort of stimulating, you know? What I won't tolerate is outright nasty from anybody. Oh, and people who threaten to put me on ignore simply because we don't agree...I do it right back. Not going to waste my time discussing with someone who doesn't even see me.

It's not like I can be wrong ALL of the time, and a disagreement ought to be based on WHAT was said rather than on WHO said it. It you keep score or pay attention, you might question sincerity, like if a consistent Nader-basher suddenly posts something nice about Nader, or a Kucinich-basher about Kucinich , or a Hillary-basher about Hillary, but then again, it is not like Nader, Kucinich or Hillary can be wrong all the time either.

|
died and with five of us left a certain vulnerability has seeped into our "reality of life!" Still, with all that seems to by DYING here in America there certainly are times I wish I was no longer here!
No, I'm NOT suicidal, but most certainly in a deep state of depression not only because of my sister, but also because of what I FEAR about the future for "we the people" of America! My sister had been suffering and we knew it was coming and I'm glad she is suffering no more, still it has a different affect on you. When my parents died I grieved greatly, but a sister definitely hits closer in some ways. At least it has for us.

|
to reply regarding the subject, but having just had the experience it seemed relevant.
In many ways we here may have to go through so much more, before THINGS "might" take a turn for the better. Right now, not so optimistic from where I'm sitting. Certainly I only have an historical reference regarding the depression, but back then it seemed people had nothing and were more willing to help their fellow man. Today there is too much wealth of others and we've kind of lost sympathy for those who are slipping down a slope where they may never recover.
I know I feel helpless even when I so desperately want to help those in need. We don't have money to spare, no way for many extras in our life, but we still have our heads above water. And I AM blessed that both of my children live close by and we spend a lot of time together. Thankful that we ALL get along and are there to give each other a hand. Sure, there are dust ups, but that IS normal. And of course, my other sisters and I are close even if we live in other states.
I know I have "family" and that means a great deal and even if our safety net gets tattered we can hold onto the threads and find a way to mend holes as we can.
But, oh so many others have so little and it truly worries me, but shames me at the same time! This country WAS so much better even 30 years ago. Patriotism is something people "wear" today, NOT something they do!
And for you... a  too!

40. I think back in the day, a true Liberal/Progressive |
|
saw DU as a place to vent out our anger, until conservative ideas and thoughts start creeping within whereas words such as trolls, bots, trollops etc became taboo.
These where words we used to express anger and disdain and it used to help ease the frustration one felt toward BushCo et al. With the influx of different perspective we as a community became engulf with the wrong agenda, instead of promoting new ideas, we spend our time attacking each other, we use metaphor and psyops to discredit each other while at the same time restrictions on using specific words became the norm, we are confronted with self aggrandizing and innuendos followed by ginormous amount of egos that follows.
Threads after threads start calling for restrictions on what we say and how we say it, back then it was fun, someone says something you don't like you take it as a grain of salt and move on with your ego intact, you see the lighter side of things and focus on whats more important.
I have been here long enough to know that the internet does not control my ego.

Everything is simmer done to a pathetic ideologue, the very same thing we fought hard against. Misdirections has become the order of the day.
I remember when DU used to ban members for providing links to websites that are not substantives enough until the day google search was added as an engine to search DU then everything started going down hill from there.
