9. "I put the rose in my hair like the Andalusian girls..."
Well yeah, but it was late in the evening and I'd had SEVERAL whiskeys by then.

8. Obviously, you've never read James Joyce.
It's a famous day in one of his most famous novels:

10. "excuse me for living, but I never read it"

It doesn't appear that it was actually in the book, only something concocted by aficionados.

It's lucky I ever read anything again after being tortured by Hemingway.

14. !! - you too.
That's one of my favorite books. Want to hear a funny story about the copy I own? One summer I was in the basement at my parents house perusing a shelf of my their books, hoping to find something to read. All the books they had were utter garbage - spy novels and cheesy romances. But tucked between the Erich Segal and 'political thriller' paperbacks was a hardbound copy of Ulysses. Perplexed and excited to find that book in my parents 'library' (omg, we have something in common?!?), I ran upstairs with it and demanded to know why they had that book and if they'd read it. Turns out they bought it in the 50's to take on their honeymoon because they'd heard it was 'racy'!!! To this day I get a huge kick out of thinking about them trying to read it to each other on their honeymoon for quasi pornographic reasons.
