Donnie Douche on Morning Joe: "I would be very surprised if this President gets reelected." |
|
He said this after Scarborough showed new NBC polls showing Obama beating Romney 49%-43%. As well, even though 44% think we're headed for a double-dip recession, Obama's approval rating is 49%. Even Joey Boy himself said that was remarkably high given our economic situation.
I guess Donnie Dorko can't see what's in front of his face.

4. FDR was re-elected despite the Depression not going away within one term. |

Fixing a big problem does take time, and longer when republicans and their donors are prolonging it.

7. However, FDR drew the battle lines clearly and he was on the side of the average man... |
|
We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace--business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.
Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me--and I welcome their hatred.
Franklin Roosevelt's Address Announcing the Second New Deal October 31, 1936
Somehow I can't see President Obama making a similar speech.

6. Name calling like this seems really petty... |

You don't like what Donny Deutch has to say, fine (btw, he was just laying into Jon Huntsman as well). Coming up with clever "names" doesn't add to your argument.

All I kept thinking was here were 5 mostly middle aged white guys trying to figure out the tea leaves. When they said the economy would be Pres Obama's downfall my mouth dropped open. I firmly believe that Obama's approvals are still so high (and really, 49% in this climate is unbelievably high) is that the middle class is looking at the economy and even if they aren't using any safety nets right now, they are still comforted that they're there. Same goes for people in their 40s and 50s (I'm 50) who want to believe that SS and Medicare will be there when it's their "turn".
One party is trying to protect the safety nets and the other is trying to eliminate them at the same time they're fighting against regulations on wall street (who gets much of the blame for the economy) and fighting for tax cuts for the wealthy. Everyone agrees the economy is fucked up - it's which party's solutions you agree with that's going to tell the tale.

I am pretty sure I heard Willie Guiste chastise him "hey- that's unkind" after Douche made a remark about the Kardashian family that was over the top. Asshole.

14. What Donnie Fails To Recognize |
|
In order for Obama to lose, the Republicans have to run somebody against him who is capable of beating him. They don't have one of those.
To repeat an analogy I used earlier, Obama is in a horse race riding a broken-down nag, but the Republicans have a bunch of people who are riding those plastic, coin-operated horses you see in front of department stores.
Prepare to be very surprised, Donnie.
