After debate, Muslims anticipate more candidate fear-mongering

It seems that many of us who tracked religious references during the Republican candidates’ debate picked up on the jarring line of questioning about Muslims in America that ended by asking Herman Cain how he likes his pizza.

“How do you go from a question mired in bigotry to ‘deep dish or thin crust?’ Shame,” tweeted the Arab American Institute during last night’s debate.

A number of American Muslim organizations were also disappointed in how their community was addressed during event, moderated by CNN’s John King.

Haris Tarin, of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, said Mitt Romney distinguished himself by calling out the legal impossibilities of establishing religious law and extending welcome to people from all faiths, while Cain and Newt Gingrich “fed into the sharia fear-mongering,” which has become a litmus test for candidates.

---------------------

Who do you think is going to be the next group they go after when they get done with the Muslims? Any guesses?

1. Remember, they're going for Republican votes right now.
They're not going to get them by condemning bigotry.

3. And they all want the people who support Cain in the polls
After his candidacy implodes. No sense in pissing off his supporters this early on.

2. Republicons = fear and hate
That's about it. They got NOTHING in the way of ideas for Americans. Just fear and hate and ideas about how to make rich republicons richer.

Ptoooey.
