DeFazio's Rebellion: Anti-Pelosi House Dems Give Strong Showing (11/18/10)
From 11/18/10 issue of the Register-Guard, entitled "DeFazio’s rebellion}:
DeFazio and Kaptur clearly were trying to win time for anti-Pelosi forces to organize and for alternative candidates to step forward. In recent days, they introduced a motion to delay the vote, arguing that rank-and-file members needed time to more fully absorb the largest loss of seats since 1938.

The effort to delay their party’s caucus elections failed Wednesday by a vote of 129-68, clearing the path for Pelosi to become minority leader.

But it will be hard for Pelosi to ignore what amounted to a no-confidence vote by a sizable bloc within her own caucus. As DeFazio told The Washington Post: “I think 68 votes is a substantial message.”

Pelosi may attempt to punish DeFazio for his leadership role in the thwarted rebellion. There’s truth to the old saying: “If you strike at a king, you must kill him.

Much more at the link. A little over a third of House Dems think they we can do better than Pelosi...and they're right. Just in case anyone forgot about that vote...

3. What can we do to encourage this?
It's definitely time to get rid of Pelosi.

And who the fuck is this Schultz person at the DNC? She needs to go as well.

In fact what good is the DNC anyway? Bring back Howard Dean or put it out of it's misery.

9. Would Anthony Weiner have been on the DeFazio and Kaptur side of this?
Is there some payback involved in the machinations around Weiner?

Or, is Pelosi just a good little Catholic girl trying to please the Pope and her conservative constituents (in San Francisco?)?

10. From what I was able to dig up (because that was on my mind as well) it appeared that...
...the vote was secret. If you or anyone else happens to come up with something otherwise, please let me know because I'd really like to to take a look at that rollcall!
