Luke Russert: Woeful inadequate reporter
Shouldn't he be out at a small market tv station learning his trade? He is not prepared for the national stage. He probably should be interning for morning joe, not roaming around capitol hill as a network reporter.

1. That's what happens when Republicon propagandists get nepotized into jobs
Inadequacy up the wazoo. Total crap (R) dumped upon America and Americans.

2. But his father was one of the top TV aristocrats on party controlled media.

That alone gives him the credentials that he needs.

4. Fortunately for those of his ilk, real reporting is no longer required
In fact, those who MSM outlets frown upon it.

5. If Dubya can be prez, Luke can be the new Cronkite. Standards have fallen like jobs with liveable
wages.

6. Interning for morning joe is too good
Most people without his connections probably start off working for a local station in a smaller market. I don't think he would be good enough, even with years of experience, to make to the national network.

15. You mean, someone who tells the best stories on the DC cocktail party circuit?
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 02:09 PM by spooky3
That seems to be his late daddy's primary claim to fame. There were so many examples of his treating Dems. more poorly than Repubs. on Meet the Press, as documented on mediamatters.org, and I can think of very little true journalism he was engaged in, that I can't see any reasons other than being a good ol' party boy that accounted for his "stature."

Junior also has gotten quite a few mentions at mediamatters.org, so he's well on his way.

Here's a search using the term "russert":

21. thanks - I had not seen that article previously - it is devastatingly on point
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 03:22 PM by spooky3
and just to clarify - I didn't mean that the DC partygoers/media had picked him to be the Meet the Press host years ago, but rather that they were so worshipful or fond of Russert and spoke so highly of him when he passed. It did not appear to me that his performance as a journalist or a moderator warranted that level of admiration, but rather that people were personally fond of him as a buddy. Or, as the article implies, they were influenced by the power he had.

22. Point taken. No one in DC expressed much doubt that he was a good choice.
Being a glib socializer carries too much weight inside the Beltway, or so it appears.

14. You know who was Tim Russert's No. 1 fan?
Keith Olbermann, that's who. Olbermann has stated a couple of times that Russert was his "protector" at MSNBC.

to have Russert as a friend, however.
