Even Pat Buchanan is laughing at how the Dems threw Weiner under the bus. |
|
Weiner broke no laws while Vitter & Craig did. Yet, dems panic & throw one of the best fighters for liberal and progressive causes under the bus while republicans rallied around their Vitter who is still serving.

1. How is he "one of the best fighters"? |
|
Weiner had no real legislative accomplishments. Plenty of people can get on TV and be loud: congressmen are supposed to do something more.

If being an effective messenger is such an easy task then why have there been so few on our side of the aisle?

27. I didn't say effective messenger. I said "loud." |
|
Weiner was good at preaching to the choir. Winning over people not already on our side? Not so much.
Meanwhile many better and more accomplished Congresscritters go on about their work accomplishing much more than Weiner did: Patrick Murphy, Kirsten Gillibrand, Louise Slaughter, Tammy Baldwin, and on.

9. He had accomplishments by standing up & fighting for progressive causes which |
|
is why his district stood behind him better than the dems in DC. More accomplishments than the weak-kneed dems who just give the republicans what they want which is what they intend to do now with medicaid.

I thought what Weiner did was stupid but I'm horrified at the way elected Democrats piled on him. It seemed like even Pat was shocked, repugs would never do that and that's why they win.

23. Exactly, the repugs unite and back each other. The dems still haven't figured |
|
that one out and wonder why many think of them as a fractured party, get confused by what the dems stand for or meant and the repugs suck in their vote.

11. Are you surprised by this? |
|
That's exactly why they should have stood up for him. I don't care whether he was the best or the worst Dem in the party, he was high profile and extremely visible.
They're all sitting there chortling at Pelosi and Schultz and to a lesser extent Obama for doing the republicans dirty work for them.
The formula works - divulge some shit about a prominent liberal spokesman or organization then sit back and watch his own party destroy him. You can bet your ass they will do this again and again until somebody stands up to them.
Weiner's constituents have been deprived of a representative they liked by a bunch of people who were scared for their own asses.
I'd be seriously pissed if I lived in his district. Hell, I'm pretty pissed right now and I live 3000 miles away.

|
said here is so true, totally agree. Now, they are saying the dems are looking at cutting medicaid. Surprised again, no I am not but as you, pissed off. They should be fighting for tax increases on the wealthy, remember, the ones they extended.
If they do go along with cutting medicaid, I am finished with them, no point of putting them in office if this is the way they are going to conduct their business for the people.

17. Fuck Vitter. Weiner needed to resign and finally did. Let republicans have |
|
the douche Vitter. Keeping Vitter will be one more insult to citizens that will haunt republicans during the 2012 election cycle. Pelosi and the House democratic leadership stepped up and did the right action. Weiner was an embarrassment and distraction, he had to go.

he doesn't resign? we are weak enablers who approve of his behavior
he resigns.//../we did not support one of our own and threw him under the bus..
dems have been on defense for DECADES, and have not figured out how to seize the agenda and be on offense
Since Watergate we gave taken a back seat and have allowed republicans /right wingers to control the agenda
