Edited: If I were Howard STERN I would be ashamed to be sink to the BREITBART/O'KEEFE level
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 06:33 PM by UTUSN
After the WEINER press conference, Chuck TODD said the hecklers were probably Howard STERN fans or castmembers. Then Tweety, on his show, referred to STERN, too. I turned off everything in between those two, so I don't know whether this was an all afternoon theme.

TODD also claimed to believe that WEINER continued to show bad judgment, now for holding the conference at all, that this event was totally unnecessary, that resignations are handled fine by letter, that the continued embarrassment to his wife and parents should have been sufficiently clear to him, that therefore the heckling was to have been expected, and the throwaway was that it was a prank of the STERN variety. It's pretty safe to guess that if WEINER had *not* had the conference, they would have said he was a coward.

Now, to me, this kind of visceral bloodlust is of the O'KEEFE variety with BREITBART hiding in the sock. STERN pranking is of the "goof" type, juvenile and embarrassing but not (so far as I know) of the playing-with-LIVES variety.

Now, for the record, I am not saying the named wingnuts and/or their sockpuppets actually did it, but if someday it turned out to be the case that they did, I wouldn't be surprised based on their public history.

ON EDIT: The subject title was modified slightly to incorporate corrections by the first couple of Replies.

1. Uh....it was the Stern show....
Or more specifically not the Stern show, but one of its writers acting on his own. I say this as a fan of the Stern show. I really don't think he would be suing anyone.

I only think one of the heckler's was Benjy from the Stern show. I think the other was another sub-Stern shock jock, from Opie and Anthony (the ones who leaked the actual Weiner photo from when Brietbart was trying to impress them.

5. Yep, it was Benjy
Classic Stern. I remember when Stuttering John asked Gennifer Flowers during a live press conference if "Governor Clinton used a condom."

12. They heckle anyone who's press conference they can get into
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 06:46 PM by ProudToBeBlueInRhody
Gennifer Flowers got heckled way back in '92.

Howard actually likes Weiner, and has had him on the show before. He was upset he got got caught up in this mess, but basically said he was stupid (and he was). "If I was named 'Weiner' I'd avoid doing anything like that".

Benjy just goes into business for himself.

15. 1- I did not "change the entire content of OP"-I changed a couple of words in the title for accuracy
If I had Self-deleted the entire o.p. as I first thought I needed to, your post would mean even less than it did at first or now.

2- If you're not being funny, you are being "Disrespectful nicknames, crude insults" and your last 5 words bounce back to you.

19. To repeat, ALL of the words in the OP are the same. There were about TWO words in the title
and I deferred to two *civil* DUers who said the media was correct, therefore I did a decent thing and corrected myself.

This is not a discussion you and I are having.

22. In your original OP, Stern is the victim, now he's the assailant
How is that not changing the meaning of your OP?

21. Howard Stern started out at a level below all others.
He didn't sink there.

Just call me "no fan". I think he is a pig.
