What to Do When the President's Just Not That Into You
Despite the hopes of millions that President Obama would champion clean energy and help solve the climate crisis, his response has fallen far short of what's necessary. At best, his record and rhetoric have been mixed. At worst, he's actively obstructed progress by boosting offshore drilling, recently announcing a huge expansion of coal mining on public lands, and financing environmentally destructive products overseas. The panel will explore some key questions that have bedeviled our movement since Obama's inauguration: What is President Obama's climate/environment record? How should the climate movement deal with the White House? What can we learn from other movements' response to the White House? Is there a possibility for a pro-environment, progressive challenger to Obama in the 2012 primaries? Is that a good idea? To answer these questions, and share inside knowledge, we'll feature some of the brightest thinkers on climate politics and movements.

Panelists:

Glenn Hurowitz
Senior Fellow, Center for International Policy

Bill McKibben
Founder, 350.org

Lt. Dan Choi
Founding Member, Knights Out

Jane Hamsher
Founder, Firedoglake

1. over $80 Billion in clean energy funding just in the Stimulus

What do you do when people won't be satisfied no matter what?

http://green.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/02/17/obama-signs-stimulus-packed-with-clean-energy-provisions/

President Barack Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus package today, and the clean energy industry — among the biggest winners — is celebrating.

The signing ceremony was heavily loaded with solar symbolism: Mr. Obama signed the bill after touring the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, which has solar panels on its roof. He was also introduced by Blake Jones, head of Namaste Solar Electric, a Colorado company that installed solar panels on the governor’s mansion there.

(As of this writing, the company’s Web site appears to have crashed, perhaps under the weight of the attention.)

“It’s an investment that will double the amount of renewable energy produced over the next three years,” said Mr. Obama, who also promised that the bill would help “transform the way we use energy.”

2. OP is just whiny "it's never enough" fringe 'Democrats.'
No way to satisfy them. No one is 'pure' enough for them.

We should ignore them.

Seriously...Any "panel" with Jane Hamsher is nothing more, IMO, than a group of Lets find new ways to bash Obama crew.
