Err, umm.....Repug rep tries to explain why health care reform is bad, but his govt care is good....
from ThinkProgress, via AlterNet:

Newly-elected Rep. Robert Hunt, R-VA, tries to explain his hypocrisy:

....(snip)....

HURT: I’ll support the repeal. Okay, what else?

TP: After you vote to repeal health care, will you also reject government-sponsored, government-subsidized health care given to members of Congress?

HURT: Uhm, well obviously we’ve got — I’ve got a health insurance policy that I pay for through the government so I don’t really–

TP: Well there’s $700 a month in taxpayer money on average that goes to a member of Congress’s health care plan given by you know the taxpayer.

HURT: It’s a policy that’s issued by Anthem and it’s a policy that any– it’s open to the public.

TP: But my tax dollars and everyone’s tax dollars subsidize your plan as a member of Congress. And all of your staff members. You’ve got what, thirty members of your staff? Do you think they should have government-sponsored health care if you’re going to repeal it for everyone else?

HURT: If you’re going to pay members of Congress anything, if they’re going to have a salary and they’re going to have benefits, like so many people who are employed do, then I think it’s not unreasonable to offer those benefits. So I support that. ..............(more)

8. Definitely - if they want to complain about"Obamacare" then should not have gov't funded healthcare.
Plain and simple.

2. This approach is kind of bullshit.
Wrong as it may be and it is wrong health care in this sad county is tied to employment. To bust their balls because their employer is the government is just a load.

5. I agree but it does indicate a bit of hypocrisy.
No Employer should ever be responsible for an employee's health care. It should be the job of the Federal Government to insure the Health and Welfare of the Nation..However when they run on the meme of Government being the problem and not the solution, and that Government is bad, it is quite hypocritical to then demand Government provide for them and their staff..

6. Plenty of employers don't contribute ANYTHING to Healthcare coverage.
He should have No PROBLEM going on the open market as an individual to find competitive insurance for him and his family.

4. This is exactly how we need to
address these folks. Loved the follow up questions. Again, that is how it needs to be done.
