Steve King boasts about Speaker's mendacity! Literally.
Again, from the "You can't make this shit up" department...

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/01/rep-steve-king-accuses-gop-leaders-of-mendacity.php?ref=fpb

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) literally accused the Republican leadership of the House of being a bunch of big old liars on the floor of the House last night. But that isn't exactly what he meant.

During a rant on the floor of the House about health care, King used the world "mendacity" -- meaning untruthfulness -- where he likely meant the opposite.

"As I deliberate and I listen to the gentleman from Tennessee, I have to make a point that when you challenge the mendacity of the leader there is an opportunity to make a motion to take the gentleman's words down, however many of the members are off on other endeavors and the leader and the speaker have established their integrity in their mendacity for years in this Congress and I don't think it can be challenged and those who do so are making aspersions by making wild accusations," King said.

For once, Congressman King, you're right on the money!

3. Thing is
They could get millions and millions of phone calls, and they will still try and say that the "people" want us to repeal this bill! They are not going to listen to the "real" people, only the corporations, and the teabaggers! They know this is a waste of time, yet they are going through with it to appease the teabaggers and the insurance companies that want this bill repealed! It's nothing more than a political circus, and they all know it!

4. Don't worry, Mr. King
I wouldn't DREAM of trying to detract from your party's mendacity.

5. I've said it before and I'll say it again
Steve King is one of the dumbest assholes ever to serve in Congress. The fact that he continues to get elected really shines a light on the majority of people in his district.

7. There are many candidates for "dumbest a-holes" in Congress.
William Scott of Virginia comes to mind - After being voted "dumbest Senator" by a Ralph Nader group the guy actually held a press conference to deny the "award".

21. Well Scott was a Senator so King could still be the dumbest congress critter.
Though, again, lots of candidates over the years.

6. Flat out ignorance is a marvelous thing to behold. Expect more moments like this.

We need a tally list:

1. Swearing in Fiasco
2. Partial Reading of the Constitution (Sanitize the nasty parts that make the FFs look bad.)
3. Partial Reading of the Partial Reading or the Constitution (skipped pages - oopsie)
4. Running out of Constitution before running out of willing member readers.
5. Constitution Reading Members practicing "Read and Run"
6. The mendacity of the Leader AND the Speaker

8. The problem with a $2 speaker using $10 words is that they often do it wrong.
But far be it for me to disagree. The integrity of the speaker's mendacity should remain unchallenged.

9. King is one "product" of Iowa I'd love to see exported.
I don't know the guy, but have heard enough to know I can't tolerate him and certainly don't like the fact he claims to be a citizen of Iowa. I'd rather he'd say he was FROM Iowa...as in MOVED.

Unless I'm wrong the 5th district of Iowa will disappear with the next redistricting.

16. Thanks for the catch. This Iowan just sent him the following email
at his contact form on his website under the category of "Congratulations":

"Corngratulations on your rant on the floor of the House last night pointing out the "mendacity" of the Speaker on the health care issue. I hold out hope you will recognize your own pernicious form of mendacity on this and other issues as you continue to embarrass the good people of Iowa time and time again."
