Al Gore Applauds Mitt Romney’s Stance On Climate Change
Edited on Fri Jun-17-11 11:27 PM by TomCADem
Source: Neon Tommy

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has received unexpected support from long-time climate change advocate and former vice president Al Gore over Romney’s position that human activities have contributed to climate change.

“Good for Mitt Romney though we've long passed the point where weak lip-service is enough on the Climate Crisis,” Gore wrote on his blog. “While other Republicans are running from the truth, he is sticking to his guns in the face of the anti-science wing of the Republican Party.”

However, the praise from Gore could stir up further criticism from conservatives who oppose Romney’s Massachusetts health care law. The law has often been compared to President Obama’s controversial health care reform that passed last year and lauded by Democrats who support health care reform.

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, is the front-runner for the 2012 GOP nomination.

This is what the Republican party has come to. Al Gore feels the need to give a Republican credit for merely acknowledging the established science behind climate change. What's next? Are we going to give Republicans gold stars for acknowledging that the earth is not flat?

Maybe Democrats can use Romney's admission to pound other Republicans and say that even Roger Ailes' handpicked stooge recognizes that human activity generating greenhouse gases is causing climate change.

1. Looks like Al is playing a little realpolitik.
This way he still gets his message out while putting the bone to the GOP candidate while appearing to support him.
Nicely done, Mr. Gore!

7. This is perfect... All we need to do is have Al Gore give Romney an.....
uncomfortable hug on a stage somewhere and one of these whack-jobs will be out of the way in a hurry.

An Al Gore hug benefits you like an apple with razorblades inside of it. Seems harmless on the surface..........

8. "The earth is not flat?" Do you think Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann would ever, ever accept that?
Heresy! Why, in the Bible, the Holy always-literally-true Bible, it says the sun goes around the earth. And it says the value of Pi is 3.0 exactly, none of that complicated fraction stuff. All that "science" and "math" and "reality" stuff is just Democrat propaganda. Good Republicans, and Tea Partiers, know the truth of climate change is whatever Exxon-Mobil says it is.

9. Monsanto is God's Will by Intelligent Design
Intelligent Designers rant against human cause of climate change, but are they railing against Monsanto and genetic engineering that lines their portfolios??

What's the intelligent part? God is punishing man for his sins and will make the earth HOT AS HELL????

10. Sounds like Mitt intends to bypass the GOP primaries and go straight to the general election.
Good luck with that.

19. Did you read the retraction at the beginning of the article?
"By Peter Schweizer
Correction: In this column that appeared Aug. 10 on the Forum Page, writer Peter Schweizer inaccurately stated that former vice president Al Gore receives royalties from a zinc mine on his property in Tennessee despite his environmental advocacy. He no longer does, as the mine was closed in 2003."

12. Mitt Romney is now a former front runner
for the GOP nomination with about the same chances as Donald Trump.

This illustrative of a GOP problem in many areas.

They get to where the party line is diametrically opposed to the truth on a subject, and anybody who speaks the truth is rejected.

This is so on:

(1) the supposed nonexistence of climate change aka global warming (or at least man made climate change)

(2) tax cuts as supposedly a stimulus to the economy that will pay for themselves.

(3) corporations as supposedly able to police themselves without government regulation or intervention

(4) rights of gays and lesbians to marry as supposedly endangering the family

(5) charter schools as a supposedly general improvement on public schools

(6) the framers of the Constitution intending the United States to be a Christian nation

The list goes on and is subject to extensions given the politics of the minute

It could, perhaps, be argued that Democrats and progressives injure themselves and their causes too by inflexible adoption of positions that are sometimes contrary to fact or sound policy, but our problem in that area is substantially less than that of the Republicans--at least now and for the foreseeable future.

20. Gore is aware that praise from the opposition can kill Presidential aspirations
Obama did the same thing regarding healthcare. It puts Romney on the defensive with the Tea Party crowd.
