If anyone doubts that there are people who are too rich...
Who could possible need a $100,000 razor?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_technews/20110621/tc_yblog_technews/would-you-pay-100000-for-a-razor

The handle of the razor is made entirely of iridium, an extremely scarce and expensive metal that is so dense it could survive a drop into molten lava. Most iridium that appears on Earth is the result of crashed meteorites. The blades of the beast are made from artificially grown sapphire, making them hypoallergenic, not to mention many orders of magnitude sharper than your average Bic. The company boasts a 10-year blade life, and backs it up with free sharpening for a decade if the razor ever dulls.

1. I really feel that people with a lot of money can spend it any way they want.
This is a very personal decision.

Edited on Wed Jun-22-11 04:55 PM by slampoet
...those are all okay with you?

You don't really feel that way if you think about it. You are just repeating a jingoistic position that can't be defended.

Every single nation on this planet has limits on what you can spend your money on.

2. And after they buy a few of these razors, they
can buy a few governmental officials. Or Congressmen. Or Supreme Court Justices.

It's a shame when people have so much money that all that's left to buy is their government.

4. Hmmmmm...
I have the same opinion of this as I did when my son had his wedding ring made out of titanium. Okay, it IS cool, but...uh...why? I guess if you happen to be shaving while standing on the edge of a volcano...

Now that I think about it, this is probably more sensible than my kid's wedding ring.

15. Titanium is cheap, but...
making it into a ring wasn't. The kid does some odd shit, sometimes. Spent a fortune having a zoot suit made while he was in Okinawa. A few months later, a custom made camel hair coat to go with it. In his "defense", it wasn't just him. It was the whole group he hung out with. Nuts, all of them, but great guys.

11. Works for 10 years though.
Assuming they aren't screwing over their customers. In the next ten years, I'll spend $280.80 on razors (since I use disposables (which according to Amazon are worth $0.27 a pop), and since I only need to shave twice a week). Now if I had to shave twice a day that would get me to $1,965.60. How often would I need to shave to make this worthwhile? A little more than 10 times a day.

So if you are the wolfman, this might be a good purchase.

Bryant

13. I don't know exactly where I draw the line...
but I know this much:

I find it offensive and grossly obscene when people have multiple vacation homes, yachts, airplanes, $100k razors and other "toys," while the vast majority of other citizen, many of whom have no doubt worked as hard if not harder throughout their lives, are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and afford the basics of life in our modern society.

I will never believe that a CEO deserves $50 million plus bonuses and benefits, while the average wage in the same company is $35k. No one works THAT much harder than another. They surely don't work harder than first responders, teachers, nurses, our military, etc.

It's morally reprehensible for such inequality in a supposedly civil society to continue to manifest.

23. The Mainstream media equates CEO's with entrepreneurs.
A thug such as Mitt Romney comes in, sells a company off for parts, takes homes millions in pay, and he is hailed as a hero by the MSM. :wtf:

20. DO WANT!
Sans iridium which is probably what makes this so expensive. Don't need iridium. I'd settle for titanium or even high quality stainless steel. It's the blades that I like the best about this razor.

Been looking at purchasing a 'Merkur Futur' actually. Good German razor that retails for about $80

because all the money was being taken, hoarded, and wasted by the rich.

That part's not so equal.

The most expensive katana of the day was a 13th century Kamakura blade that sold for $418,000 to an anonymous European collector. While the most valuable katanas are likely museum pieces and utterly priceless, we can still call this one the most expensive katana in the world.
