1. If Gaddafi died every time the media reported it
he'd be dead like 4 or 5 times now. I'll believe it when I see the corpse.

After Undergoing Surgery In Cuba, Some Are Speculating That Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Is Dead

Hugo Chavez, the president of Venezuela, is undergoing medical treatment in Cuba, leading to all sorts of rumors about his health. There are even people speculating that Hugo Chavez is dead.

Is Hugo Chavez Dead or Alive?

As of June 25, 2011, there has been no official confirmation that Hugo Chavez is dead. The closest to a Hugo Chavez death report comes from Wikileaks Argentina, which tweeted:

"BREAKING NEWS! The president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez died in Cuba this morning. 06/25/2011 08:43AM"

Other than one tweet, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of people saying that Hugo Chavez is dead.

That being said, Hugo Chavez is having serious health problems.

13. Remember the "Castro is dead" rumors? I think this is a similar ploy.
Foreign minister comes out and says he's facing a great battle? No other statement on his health condition? C'mon.

If he dies I will not be weeping for him.

16. Chaos?
In all seriousness, the constitution has the Vice President take control. But there will be chaos if that happens.

I doubt it will happen. Tyrants tend to live a really long time for some reason.

36. Juan Forero speaks as if Venezuela doesn't have a federal government
or a constitution that decides these matters. But, that's the usual level of his "reporting".

40. I'm sure that he at times accidentally reports news
:)

Forero at the Post and Romero at the NYTs work the Chavez beat and they're pretty awful. McClatchy does much better imo, and the indies like Amy Goodman do even better. Sometimes it seems like the farther you get from Wall Street, the better the reporting gets!
