Something I just read in a book |
|
'Homeland Security Begins with a Home'
The Double Bind by Chris Bohjalian page #68
Just struck me as being the real reason for protecting this country, I think something the politicians have completely forgot

That they are happy as long as they have theirs.
They don't care about anyone else's needs.
Is that better?

4. Well, that is what I thought you meant and that is not what I felt |
|
as I read it.
It is just a novel about a young woman working in a homeless shelter. It was a saying that was written on her baseball cap advertising the shelter that she works for. The abbreviation for the shelter is BEDS. The thought of people like mccain having so many houses he can not remember how many, never crossed my mind.
What I thought of was we are fighting wars all over the world, bringing freedom to so many countries ( :sarcasm: ), watching our young die in places they may not even be able spell, strip searching people to fly across the country, people getting kicked out of their homes because of greedy corporations, people losing their jobs, etc.
If people have a home they feel more secure, but by this country going around the world securing it, this country no longer cares if the people in this country have a home, so therefore this country loses its security.

5. The "home" you speak of... |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 08:09 AM by Javaman
was protected long before the "Homeland security" bullshit was foisted upon us.
the failure was a moronic leader* by the name of george w. dickhead* to pay attention.
the very last thing the "homeland security" was created for was to remember the part about "home". It was nothing more than a right wing catchy phrase.
please, do not ever confuse political overreach with our safety.
