13. Ed is right
Obama seems scared to lead. Huge numbers of Americans are against these extreme, mean-spirited measures the GOP are pushing, but he won't fight for them. Meanwhile, the GOP keep making a fool out of Obama. The more he gives in, the more they'll keep picking at him, just like a bully. STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK, OBAMA!

-Wealth without Work
-Pleasure without Conscience
-Science without Humanity

28. If Schultz was "cheerleading for Obama" it would ring hollow --
look at what Obama is actually doing --

80% of the public want an end to the wars --

74% and more of Americans want MEDICARE FOR ALL --

over and again this is betrayal of US citizens --

And now he's after cuts in Social Security and Medicare -- after already

cutting COLA's -- !!

The Koch Bros. funded DLC turned the Dem Party and its candidates upside down --

and that isn't Schultz's fault --

23. A repuglian president couldn't to that.
Which is what's so very wrong about the Democratic leadership's approach to all the nation's problems since 2008.

Why raise taxes when we can cut social spending?
Why pay back the looted Social Security trust fund?
Why are we expanding the wars without end?
Where are the jobs programs?
Why do George Bush and Karl Rove run free while Don Siegelman and Rick Scrushy live in fear?

It should be getting pretty obvious something is very wrong.

10. He was reporting that Obama was offering changes in Entitlements
for Tax Cuts from Republicans.

Sad but true, Obama always puts himself in a position
of weakness in beginning negotiations. By doing this
Obama is undercutting the Party's position. No Medicare
cuts was the Party's ticket for some wins after the
Paul Ryan Budget. Now Obama will be the Medicare, SS
and Medicaid cutter.

12. It's been obvious from Day #1 --
how much longer could it be denied?

It's been said about a thousand different ways since he picked Koch Bros/DLC Rahm Emmanuel --

and since he picked his Wall Street/Big Money team -- those who created the meltdown!!

And it's been said every time Obama has moved to corporate/elite appeasement -- whether

on 'PRESERVING' THE PRIVATE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY -- as Rahm "crowed" about it -- :eyes:

or making deals with Big Pharma to prevent Medicare from negotiation on drug prices!!

Whether it's been taking single payer off the table - or whether it's been extending

the Patriot Act -- or tax cuts for the rich.

On and on -- on and on -- you know the song!

the fact of the matter is that if we lose in 2012 we are so screwed that even Bush will start looking good. There is way too much at stake here including the survival of the middle class, the right to unionize, the right to control our own bodies, etc, etc.

I know that as democrats, we take pride in our way of handling our differences but this is one time we should all hold our nose and support our president, and with all his problems, he is the cutest president we have ever had.

Does it dawn on you yet that every time you vote for the "lesser evil"

you move the party and Congress further to the right?

Maybe it will take another 10 years of war for you to stop "holding your nose"?

What right to unionize -- Obama is also destroying that --

34. One of the things that Obama has done right
is to appoint Hilda Solis as secretary of labor. She was one of the most pro union people in the house. And yes, we may take a step back in the medicare fight but with a republican president it will go away entirely. The best way to win the war is to fight the battles you can win. There is no way we can replace Obama as our candidate for the 2012 election but he, on his worse day, is better than a republican on a good day.

especially if he attacks SS and Medicare, he will destroy the Dem Party --

Did you somehow miss that Obama/Duncan are attacking and destroying public education

for the benefit of charter schools? Attacking teachers and their unions?

Again -- if you vote for the lesser of evils you will continue to move the party and

Congress to the right!

The longer we wait the more difficult this will be --

Moving any further to the right is the real death wish --

Liberals are a huge voting bloc even now -- and as they are coming to understand

their futures and their children's futures are being destroyed by the rise of the

right and corruption of government -- which our Democratic Party and its leaders

have failed to repond to.

77. If you don't? Maybe things will just collapse faster, instead of
more slowly.

What happened in Wisconsin? That is a microcosm of what would happen if a Repub won the WH. It wakened people up finally. It started a movement. Had a Dem won, things would be still sliding downhill. With Walker they just slid faster paving the way for a turn-around.

I think people are done with the lesser evil strategy.

It's time for the people to stop following and start leading.

I will support only Progressive Democrats.

I could never, ever support someone claiming to be a Democrat who touches SS. That is cruel. Those are the most vulnerable people in this country and anyone who takes even a dime from them, is NO Democrat and no better than a Republican.

Because Democrats will let him. I'm starting to think we would be better off with a Republican president, at least then the Democrats would be united against him. Now many of us just wring our hands and say it would be worse with a Republican. Well I for one am starting to have a hard time seeing the difference.

and the interest on the debt is what is costing us a fortune. Why pick on sick and poor people? Obama does what he is told by TPTB. Unfortunately, TPTB are sadistic psychopaths.

I wish I had been born in France or Germany. Do you think that Americans will become the 'new illegal immigrants?' I can't believe what our nation has become.

I know the nation is in complete decline...I wish the 'leaders' would just admit that so we could stop all of this wasteful war spending.

TPTB are pushing for WW3 or maybe it's Crusades 2.

Sometimes I hope the Mayans and Hopis are correct and the Planet shifts on its axis and we get to all start over. Because humanity has stepped over the line of decency/civilization.

right on. But what is Obama doing to insure the survival of the middle class, whatever that means? What is he doing to protect the right to unionize? For that matter, what is he doing to protect the right to control our own bodies? Answer to the latter: REQUIRE us to buy private health insurance. Come on, the answer is zip, zero, nada.

As for as your second sentence, I should vote for him because he is CUTE? Don't insult my intelligence. I'd take crippled FDR or homely Lincoln over this Republican in Democrat's clothing any day.

88. Look, I'll always vote against fascism to the degree I am given a choice.
But to say that Obama has been anything other than a gross disappointment and a colossal failure would be disingenuous.

32. Well, Ed has taken the view that adopting the trappings of the right is
the way to go...

I see that and understand it but I don't like it.

I see the efficacy of it, but it's not for me...

33. Is ED waking up to the truth?
I'm sorry but Obama caved to the right every chance he got, and the Republicons still call him a socialist who is unwilling to compromise. It's hard to support Obama when he undercuts the position the the Democratic party has held for years and the bargining chip that the Dems used against the Ryan budget.
I wish Obama would stop giving the Republicons what they want. Stop negotiating with economic terrorist.

Edited on Thu Jul-07-11 01:11 PM by MadMaddie
I have a love/dislike relationship with Ed. He doesn't know anymore than anyone else and is knee jerking everytime some piece of so called news comes out......and we have seen many instances where his response was based on not so accurate information.

I will wait until the facts actually come out on paper on to what is going to occur. I hope others start doing this. Facts and Data are all we can really rely on, the MSM is full of shit and yet many continue to grovel at every piece of crap that comes out.

''...you can stand back and look at this planet and see that we have the money, the power, the medical understanding, the scientific know-how, the love and the community to produce a kind of human paradise.

But we are led by the least among us - the least intelligent, the least noble, the least visionary. We are led by the least among us and we do not fight back against the dehumanizing values that are handed down as control icons.''

103. I don't care much for Ed, he's just another load mouth.
Obama is the only person that will help the old and the poor. I think Obama is setting himself up to use the 14 amendment. He will be able to say that he offered everything to the Republicans and they refused. They want the country/Obama to collapse, Obama is making sure that no one can say that he did something that he didn't have to do to save the country. He is covering his ass.
