"Why don't we all wait until the details of his plan are given?"
I see the Icon supporters are out trying to put out fires. Well, my answer is- by the time we get the details, the deal will be done, and it will be too late. The time to put pressure on DC is now, while these ideas are being floated around. Once Obama and Boehner have a deal, nothing will stop that trainwreck. They will do it at the last hour.

18. That's right. And the siren song of YES WE CANs and soaring rhetoric will make us forget about
trivialities like Social Security anyway!

7. Why wait? If the king and wisemen hear the rumblings in the

village square on Monday them they might think differently about what they decide to do on Tuesday.

10. Obama signed a "tax cut" that raises taxes on the poorest working Americans..
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/08/us/politics/08impact.html

Although the $120 billion payroll tax reduction offers nearly twice the tax savings of the credit it replaces, it will nonetheless lead to higher tax bills for individuals with incomes below $20,000 and families that make less than $40,000. That is because their payroll tax savings are less than the $400 or $800 they will lose from the Making Work Pay credit.

“It will come to a few dollars a week,” said Roberton Williams, an analyst at the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, “but it is an increase.”

12. ok, point me to a statement from Obama where he denies these reports
Should be pretty simple and easy for the Worlds Most Powerful Man to do this, right?

I sure as hell ain't going to believe an anonymous poster over the media.

Austerity, all the world leaders are doing it. Question is, what are we going to do about it?

11. EXACTLY. They're out there now. "But But But...whitehouse spokesman said"....
Pfft. I'd take nothing for granted and let http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact HAVE it on the SS and Medicare issue.

It's not like Obama has never caved in before. You don't WAIT until he's done a backroom deal with Boner before you ACT.

13. A familiar refrain.
I heard it before he was inaugurated, while he was appointing his appallingly neoliberal cabinet.

I heard it after, with the passionate demands to "give him time."

Time hasn't helped, other than to clarify the debacle that is his presidency.
