It's a SPENDING problem, not a revenue problem!! |
|
We are spending too much on:
Tax cuts for the rich and corporations Military complex and WAR PRISONs holding non-violent drug users OIL Socializing the costs of rich bankers fuck-ups
etc... :grr:

2. It's both. Tax cuts for the wealthy aren't spending. |
|
They are reductions in revenue.
While I agree with you on all your points, and all the things that need to be changed, you need to keep your terminology accurate.

3. It's a terminology problem |
|
Before the tax cuts, that money was going to the treasury - it belonged to the Federal government. Then the Feds "spent" it by lowering the tax rate.
I know - it's my terminology problem, but what the hey. I've been accused of worse.

6. Its OFTEN a 'terminology' problem. |
|
Someone's 'cut' is someone else's 'reform/renovate.' Nuance gets folks every time. Its the fine print, folks!

4. As Al said this morning, the Republicans have taken the position |
|
that ending subsidies to big oil is the same as a tax increase.
Now, we could extend that logic as we insist on ending subsidies to the poor if we were to think logicially. Unfortunately, that's not a strong suit for the Republicans. No poor person ever created a job. So we must wait a little while longer. Eventually we'll send enough tax dollars to corporate America to prime the pump. The dam will break and finally finally finally the jobs will come. Like they did when Bush was prez.
So there.

5. Giveaways to the rich are the essence of profligacy. |
|
Bible doesn't like that.
Acts 13:10 said, 'O full of all guile, and all profligacy, son of a devil, enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease perverting the right ways of the Lord?
Ephesians 4:19 Such men being past feeling have abandoned themselves to impurity, greedily indulging in every kind of profligacy.
Titus 1:6 wherever there is a man of blameless life, true to his one wife, having children who are themselves believers and are free from every reproach of profligacy or of stubborn self-will.
1 Peter 4:4 At this they are astonished--that you do not run into the same excess of profligacy as they do; and they speak abusively of you.
They need to stop annoying me.
