The DC office buildings for the US House allow free access to all visitors
I have occasion to be in a lot of government office buildings in DC. The actual security measures vary, but virtually all of them require at a minimum one form of picture ID and a trip through a magnetometer, with your belongings x-rayed.

The House and Senate office buildings only do the magnetometer. No ID check. Philosophically, they are offices of the people's representatives and they wish them to remain open to their constituents. (We can argue the political reality of that some other time, okay? Please?)

If today's events are, however unlikely it may seem, and no matter what we're told by our worthless media, found to be uninfluenced by hateful, inciteful rhetoric, will that openness change? Will reps now get personal security? Or at least budget for personal security? Will town hall meetings and open constituent gathers as was happening in Tucson no longer happen?

This sort of act affects all reps, no matter their party.
