Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) became the first presidential candidate to sign a pledge created by The Family Leader, a conservative, Iowa-based Christian group that opposes same sex marriage, Sharia law and pornography.

By signing the pledge (PDF), Bachmann vowed to support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage, as well as agreeing that same sex marriage was akin to polygamy.

The document also implies that homosexuality is a choice.

"No peer-reviewed empirical science or rational demonstration has ever definitively proven, nor has even shown an overwhelming probability that homosexual preference or behavior is irresistible as a function of genetic determination or other forms of fatalism," according to the Christian group.

With her signature, Bachmann seemed to be implicitly agreeing that black children were better off during slavery.

And is no doubt why the founding fathers decided on a firm separation of church and state! There is not one iota of difference between the religious nutjobs of any stripe! When people want to start passing laws based on religion you know the patients are in charge of the asylum! Even Jesus knew it was a bad idea. If we pass laws based on one religion, we must entertain all such ridiculousness from all religions.

I love spiritual people, but religious people scare the hell out of me.

We see it over and over and over again, and then you take away the curtain and look in, you generally find some pretty deranged scary people. I'm disgusted. "Traditional" Christian values are ANYTHING but conservative! Not how that word is used today! Jesus was a socialist, FCOL! The current conservative dogma flies in the face of what true Christianity is all about.

Many will come in his name and will fool even God's chosen... Jesus laid it all out... or someone did. And it's happening. And one of the few truths in their scripture is lost on them now.

There are far too many gay people marrying straight people and then coming out after there are kids etc. If we didn't have such shitty attitudes about gay people, this sort of shit would happen a lot less.
