Poll question: Do You Think Republicans Will Actually Push The USA Into Debt Default? I Do.
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 04:04 PM by KittyWampus
And I think whoever decided to mention Social Security in this context has gotten a lot of seniors and middle class voters' attention.

I think the Republicans will cause the default, the economy will suffer and the public will actually know who to blame this time. It will be obvious.

Attention that had been focused on Republicans in a negative way a few weeks ago (before Weiner imploded) will now be reset on their stupidity and ineptitude. And that's even with a corrupt media environment.

I'm not including a "don't know", please just go with your gut.

1. See how the IMF & the EU are forcing Greece to sell off treasured state assets?
Think of all the federal assets the Wall St crowd wants to own, then remember who controls the GOP.

2. I'm not so sure...
Because a default would kick the asses of Wall Street, big time. And who funds the GOPers' campaigns? I'll bet there is a lot of pressure coming from Wall Street lobbyists right now, but the GOPers are going to play chicken for as long as they can.

Edit- selling off assets.

Although I do think Obama would step in with his authority.

10. Maybe
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 04:14 PM by hifiguy
but the wallstreeters and their buddies have been betting on this happening for some time. Look at little shitweasel Cantor and his bond positions that have been discussed here. He stands to make a tidy sum of the US defaults. These parasites find a way to make a killing on everything and this is no different.

And as for the repig politicians, they'd shit on their own mothers' graves if its what the Kochs, Rushballs and the rest of the booby hatch crowd wanted. They give a shit about nothing but power and if destroying the country means power for them it isn't even worth a second thought.

6. No. They know they can squeeze more concessions out of a third way
run Democratic Party since a lot of their economic philosophies are by matter of degree. They will not in the end damage their relationship with the corporations which they are competing for.

7. Republicans don't care about the U.S.
I believe the pubs will cause us to default if ONLY to destroy a democrat president. The pubs have already closed the MN state government and the public appears to be too stupid to recognize who caused it, or why. I wouldn't be surprised if the public is too stupid to see the truth about our fed goverment getting shut down either. The w brand is VERY dumbed down.

9. Absolutely!
They don't give a shit about the economy. And if they ruin the economy, Obama doesn't have a chance of getting reelected. That's what this is all about.

12. I've asked all of my (R) reps to swim against the stream on this.
I'm getting tired of the ride in the back seat while they play chicken. They are certain that the Dems will blink first. And yes, I think they're just irresponsible enough to go there. I guess I'm willing to let them drive it over the cliff if that tickles their fancy. Like Gingrich's gov't shutdown, they will pay the price in the end.

16. Sitting in the back, or pushed at the front, the landing is still painful.
What are our options? Letting them have that awful Ryan Plan? No thank you. I'd rather just crash and burn now.

13. The teabaggers in congress will never vote to increase the debt ceiling. Boehner wants
the US to go into default because he will look like a hero to the teabaggers.

to say that the Dems have had no hand in this mess (they have) is to be intellectually dishonest.

But we're dealing with a party co-opted by tea partiers. :banghead:
