Colorado day-care center proposal: Dolls must represent at least three different races
Source: Denver westworld

Here's an item with the potential for firing up enemies of political correctness:

New rules proposed by the Colorado Department of Human Services include a requirement that all day-care centers in the state make available dolls representing three different races.

The 98-page document, obtained by 7News, features a slew of rule changes. Among them: children over age two must not be served whole milk without a note from a doctor, kids over age one can't drink more than six ounces of juice per day, TV and computer time will be capped at twenty minutes daily, and staffers must wear clothes that cover their lap and shoulders. But arguably the most unusual suggestion pops up on page 77: "Dolls shall represent three (3) races."

5. Yeah, that's just what we need
Let's drain EVERY bit of individuality and culture out of every child, starting with their heritage.

America is a melting pot, not one size fits all.

6. So culture and race are synonymous to you?
And individuality is all about skin shade?

Just asking.

2. My mom owned a day care center
when I was young and I helped out there from when I was a teen back in the 70's. Each year the rules became more and more onerous. The large franchises adapted fairly easy but it was difficult for a small owner businesses. Looks like nothing has changed in that dept.

9. The 'whole milk only with doctor's note' usurps the right of parents to decide
what kid drinks

13. I drank whole milk my whole childhood
after weaned as did most everyone I know and nary a problem. It was part of a healthy diet in those days. I understand there are more kids out there these days with lactose intolerance. I think it should be a parents decison how much juice they would like to feed their child and whether it should have whold milk or no. This is really intrusive imo.

14. Good for you
I've never drank it. My mother was ahead of her time and was very strict about what she fed us. No whole milk, very little sugar, no junk food ever. When my kids were babies (they are now in their late 20s) their doctor told me not to give them whole milk. And I had a friend whose baby sitter gave her baby whole milk and he got very sick.

Milk after weaning seems to be fine? This is the
info I grew up with in the 60s and 70's. Are there reasons
to change these guidelines now? It isn't a subject I have followed and
so I am surprised that there is any controversy re it. I learned
the same in nursing school way back when but that was in the stone age
and so much has changed.

15. With the obesity epidemic whole milk isn't good anyways.
Although I turned out just fine I'd add.

11. It would make sense for the business owner
to provide access to dolls of different races, as it promotes inclusiveness, but it certainly shouldn't be mandated by the government, imo.
