Giving Republicans A Free Pass - Why Is There No Heat On The House Republicans? |
|
I remember when Nancy Pelosi was made out to be this huge boogey man during the 2010 elections. The corporate media went after her with gusto. Free Republic went after her. Her unfavorables were driven up among the general public even though she was incredibly effective with the House passing legislation that was often stalled in the Senate.
In sharp contrast, WTF have the House Republicans done to create jobs? We blame President Obama, but you do need the House to do something, and sadly the Tea Party types are only interested in gutting spending in the midst of a recession. Worse, they are even proposing expanding and protecting tax cuts.
The corporate media plays the Republican talking point that "Taxes kill jobs" a million times, but never is it pointed out that the Bush tax cuts have never been repealed! Yet, we are still in the middle of an economic malaise!

1. Because the repubs own the media |
|
And anyone who says differently is either not paying attention to the things you listed, or is owned by the repubs themselves.

3. And the anchors themselves |
|
are millionaires who are just as greedy as the corporations they represent. They don't want to pay taxes either. And every one of them is just too self-absorbed and short-sighted to see that perhaps the doing their job properly would be useful to the common good.

4. When I recall the interviews of Anthony Weiner versus the Interviews of John Kyl or Mitch McConnell |
|
The media shows open contempt for Democrats. Heck, you have folks like O'Keefe running media stunt set-up operations of Democrats with impunity. Yet, Republicans never receive such treatment. McConnell always gets to say his "Taxes Kill Jobs" talking point without interruption. The media is just so damn respectful of Republicans.
So, what happens? This narrative and treatment of Republicans versus Democrats is passed on to the public, which includes liberals. We give them a free pass or, worse, we admire their dysfunction as leadership! In other words, corporate media has become corporate propaganda, and we get played, and we do not even know it.

5. Many are figuring it out |
|
and turning to other media sources, but that is a lot of work. I worry most about the average American voter who watches the Nightly News or the Today Show for news. That person is screwed. We can't even count on NPR anymore to do their job.

2. YOU answered your own question! Corporate Media-Murdogs |
|
were unmerciful and unrelenting in going after Pelosi at every opportunity. they never gave up. And the dems in 2010 did not know what hit them. In addition, the tparty was noisy and active, while the dems were caught off guard. So, in fact, the repugs have no media heat except from MSNBC. And of course, the Murdogs are going after Media Matters tax exemption because they parse out their lies each and every day. Perhaps, this scandal in England will help the FCC get a back bone and stop the corruption of American airwaves and media outlets by the MURDOG empire. And of course, there is Obama, who is trying to play NICE to the repugs. I do like how Sen Bernie Sanders is responding to all the crap. but, perhaps the day of reckoning is coming. I just hope Obama doesn't cave. Ed Schultz called him the CAPITULATOR in Chief the other night.
