Rupert Murdoch is now facing "colossal fines". Enough to cripple Newscorp? Enough to damage FOX?
Edited on Sat Jul-09-11 08:59 PM by Snoutport
I was catching up on articles and found this nugget buried deep down on a page.

"Meanwhile, US law may enter the fray. A former Labour cabinet minister has alerted attention to the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which makes an American company (News Corp) liable for colossal fines if any employee bribes a foreign official (the Met police) even if no one at head office knew. What's more, any whistleblower inside the company (sacked News of the World reporters), stands to win a percentage of that fine if they report acts of bribery."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/jul/08/ed-miliband-broken-omerta-old-monster

This is a big deal! There are around 4000 with probable grounds to sue and now the threat of colossal fines for bribes WE ALREADY KNOW HAPPENED. The News of the World was the U.K.s biggest selling paper. This is three HUGE hits financially and if Murdoch loses BSkyB that is another blow to him. He already owns 39 % of BSkyB but if it is ruled he can't buy more because of ethics...there is a chance they will have to sell of what portion of the station they already own. If ONE house stops listening and reading Rupert Murdoch's brainwashing messages it is a win. This is effecting his readers all over the world at this point. (Australia is now calling for investigations as well).

These are the things that I think are going to happen in the next two weeks:
James Cameron will be arrested or at least questioned by the police.
Rebekah Brooks will be removed from her post or she will step down. I figure she too will be arrested.
Murdoch will lose his bid to take over BSkyB television.
FOX News head Roger Ailes will be in the hot seat as it breaks that FOX has been hacking phones as well. (The whistle-blowers get part of the fine.... it is going to happen)

Rupert Murdoch, in the following months, might even be squeezed out of Newscorp. It is a publicly owned company and he has been a very very bad man.

And Mr. Cameron? I give him two months. I think the proof that Murdoch has been targeting the left-wing with Cameron's knowledge is going to come out soon enough.

That is my take on today's current event as we watch the herald of the right-wing crash and burn.

Seriously people, this might make the end of media monopolies as we know them. Another good day for democracy.

I never thought Murdoch would see jail time. There is a chance...a tiny tiny chance...but he is about to become a very hated man.

We are going to hear even dirtier stuff. Princess Di hasn't come up at all yet...but you can bet they were all over that. Hacking Diana and her family after her death will not go over well in England.

27. Somehow I doubt that Murdoch
will receive an adequate punishment for his malfeasance. His influence is too great. And Fox News serves as a mouthpiece for TPTB.

Seeing Murdoch and Newscorp and Fox implode would be a beautiful thing. It's important to remember they are a pack of jackals; they'll turn on each other to preserve themselves. The Dude looks forward to watching the feeding frenzy, man.

If he gets hit with more than, oh, the equivalent of six hours' income from his holdings, I'll be astonished.
