Was This Obama's Plan...or Bad Cop/Good Cop...or same shit/diff day?? |
|
This morning's news of Boehner's walk out, taking the "BIG bargain" off the table and asking Obama to please step outside and hold his horse for him (the usual way the repukes are treating him for the entertainment of their base), has left me trying to figure out if Obama is one brilliant SOB or if he and Boehner cooked up this vaudeville act, or if Obama did actually get peed on again!!! In other words, did Obama jack up the cuts to trillions of dollars to make the repukes look really bad if they didn't ask their favorite oil company or Koch brother to pony up----and then when the corporate masters said "don't fuck with us, Boehner", it forced Boehner (and his terrorists) to go with the smaller cuts package of Biden?? And, an additional benefit would be the kicking the can to 2012 and make repukes DEFEND the position that killing Grandma by running her over with a corporate jet is a nifty idea------which means not one repuke will be elected to even a dog catcher job in the USA!!! Hmmmm...brilliant, con job....whatever.....

1. Obama has done this type of thing since the Primaries. |
|
It should be obvious by now that it is all part of a strategy.

6. A strategy that legitimizes the absurd TeaPubliKlan positions and ideology |
|
while riverboat gambling with everything we've ever done to score some political points with a segment of voters who are either about fucking stupid or pay little attention to need such illustrations who are prone to forgetting such lessons with great regularity?
What is the win that is worth such risk and invites future efforts to chip away?
Plus, he still gives in after "winning" and awards implementation of part of the opposition's agenda anyway while taking on full responsibility for the downside because the opposition maintains their obstruction.
Fuck this "strategy".

2. Best thing to do is to wait and see what happens. |
|
That works better than speculating. If you have opinions about how things should be done, share them with those who are doing things, like your legislators and the President. Emailing all those people is easy, and your emails are at least tallied to record your opinion, if not actually read by the addressee.
Trying to figure out in advance what will become evident shortly is a waste of time. We will know soon. In the meantime, those who have expressed their concerns and advice to those who will actually decide these issues have done the very best thing possible.

4. MineralMan--let me share something |
|
I flooded my Senator and Rep at the state level when they were taking a knife to our pension system, etc. You aren't going to believe what I got (besides screwed by them). Within the month I got a whole packet of junk from the Dem Party and later, a packet of junk from the Obama re-election campaign wanting me to SEND MONEY! (In other words this is how they collect names and addresses). I replied that I would love to but since I just got fucked over and they stood silently by and allowed this attack on teachers and state workers, the only thing I could send them is an IOU and they shouldn't hold their breaths........

10. That's odd. That's not what I get. I've worked on the |
|
campaigns for my legislators. When I write a carefully-thought-out letter to them, I get an answer. I've met them and talked to them. I take the time to write thoughtful emails and letters, and support what I'm saying with factual information. They seem to be seeing some of those communications, at least. Then, when they're back in the district, I talk to them whenever I can. They know that I've helped them get elected, so they actually listen to me, and I listen to them.
Of course, I'm fortunate that the people I've campaigned for have won. That isn't the case for everyone.

3. I think President Obama has enabled the Republican party. |
|
That said, he has an opportunity to start publicly slamming the Republicans because of this move on their part.
Remember, the reason why most of us don't believe that Obama is playing 14-dimensional chess is that he has given the Republican party lots and lots of rope over the last few years, but never has he dropped the noose around their neck and yanked when he had the opportunity to. If he doesn't use these chinks in their political armor to our advantage, he's not playing 14-dimensional chess, he's kowtowing to them.
More than a couple of articles have described President Obama as someone who wants to always appear to be the "Most Reasonable Guy In The Room". He can politically whack the Republicans in the back of the knees and still remain so, but he appears hesitant to do even that.
The Repukes have been giving him slow pitch after slow pitch over the plate, acting like infantile corporatists. All Obama has to do is swing, for Chrissakes. By not swinging he comes off as a corporatist himself or something unfatomably worse: A proletariat firebrand who, when he stepped up to the plate, lost his nerve and spent too much time blinking in the glare of the lights to even hit a slow pitch.
The man needs to take charge yesterday.

AMEN----------indeed, we needed a leader "yesterday"! Pelosi is the only one standing up for what is left of the middle class (the part that wasn't killed off by Clinton years ago).

5. Watch it--my thread was locked for a lot less. |

Anyway--Repukes never have to worry about not being elected. Between the Koch Bros. and Fox news they are set for life

7. I think The President is an average negotiator at best |
|
And no matter what Boner says, he can't deliver the votes of House republicans. If I had to make a prediction (probably a waste of time) I would say...
What will happen?
Too Little
When will it happen?
Too Late.
