a completely inappropriate comedy show on a night which should be reserved for national mourning.
I know life goes on but sometimes acknowleging our heart, "We're sorry, but we don't feel like being clowns tonight" should matter more than our funny bone.

1. They sure plugged it often enough during the football games |

But they do that will all their NBC shows.
Thank goodness the Jets managed not to embarrass themselves (for another week at least) or today would have been a total disaster.
If it will make you feel any better, I decided to postpone my annual "You Call This News" Awards threads until later in the week.

2. Laughter is good for soul, even in a time of sorrow. |

People mourn differently.

4. Of course there will be no mention of today's tragedy. |
|
I guess some folks feel we need to get off the depressing news for a while. I agree. This is a day of national mourning.

5. I really think that such actions of violence are wrong. |
|
Obviously violence, or threats of hardship should not run society. And it is difficult to have a conversation on this topic with the senseless loss of life that occurred, and the wounding to people, and even the wounding of the concepts of having a society not ran by fear or intimidation.
Although there are people hurt everyday that mean just as much to many loved ones. Every person hurt from lack of health care, lack of comfort or peace, lack of caring in any area that is used to intimidate is the same things as that guy did.
I hope earnestly for a speedy recovery for those injured, and for comfort and peace to her and her family. And also for those in hardship for reasons not of their making, nor for what they have done wrong in many areas of life by many causes.

7. I remember feeling the same way the day the Murrah building was bombed |
|
I had been glued to the TV all day/evening, they kept going back and forth between OKC coverage and then back to the tornado warnings here in North TX. By the end of the night when the late night shows were coming on the thought of listening to their monologues made my head hurt even more..turned them off and went to bed.
I had a much needed moment tonight, though..went grocery shopping and as I was checking out the cashier asked me if I had a store discount card, the kind where they swipe it and money is subtracted from your balance. I said no... out of the blue, a stranger in line behind me stepped up and offered the cashier his card to use on my groceries, taking $25 off my bill.
Amazing random act of kindness on an otherwise horribly depressing day...
