I thinkSocialSecurity should be mean tested.
That wasn't a typo. Not MEANS tested, MEAN tested. Anybody as mean as the average teabagger shouldn't get it.

OK, so it's late & I just spent the day fishing with a 6 year-old and some of her humor wore off on me.

2. Unfortunately, that's unconstitutional
There's no law against being mean or stupid. Except Natural Law. It's not nice to fool Mother Nature.

8. Teabaggers don't care about the constitution
Maybe evolution will eliminate teabaggers in a few more years.

If the offer's sincere, maybe I'll make a detour the next time I go visit my son in the Cities.

7. No. People who paid into it all their lives should draw it when they hit 65
It's insurance and always has been. You pay the premiums, you get the benefit.

Anything else is unfair.

FWIW, I'm eligible and haven't applied as yet. I'll wait until 70 if I can, leaving me very few years to collect, because right now I don't need it.

However, it needs to be there because at times that money taken out of a small check represented food out of my mouth.

I paid a lifetime of premiums. It's mine. Means testing that is like means testing all other forms of insurance: "Oh, you make a good paycheck, you can afford to get your car fixed." Or "Oh, you've got savings. Pay for your own health care."

The only change to it should be taking it out of the general fund and away from all the greedy paws in Congress. Return it to the stand alone insurance plan for working people it always was. And if there's a shortfall, raise the damn cap on taxable earnings. Just keep your greedy paws off stuff that belongs to other people.

10. I like it! I think "mean testing" should be extended to all sorts of things.
Political candidates, for one. If they fail "mean testing" they don't qualify to run for office.

Corporate CEOs. Fail the "mean test"? You're fired.

Supreme Court Justices - no confirmation if you can't pass the "mean test".

The Department of Defense(sic): instant fail, of course.

This is a GREAT idea!

:D
