If I decide not to attend an sporting event, it turns out to be the best game ever. |
|
If I decide to not go to a party, it turns out some big-name band makes a surprise appearance.
If I decide to buy a television, it goes on sale at half price the following week.
And now, if I support Democrats and pay into SS and Medicare my entire life, they gut the whole system just before I become eligible.
Maybe the Republicans have a point...no reason to be a good person or do the right thing. Only the ruthless, heartless, conniving, bad people seem to truly make it in this world anymore.

3. Not yet...but what news are YOU reading? |
|
You have some inside info? It's going to happen. If not during this deal, the next chance the GOP gets...maybe after they've taken back the Senate after Obama's supporters become so disgusted that they don't show up at the polls in 2012. But you know it and I know it...the rich and powerful are gunning for our SS and Medicare, and they tend to always get what they want.

Please justify your claim that the Democrats will "gut the whole system".
nb - I had dinner with Bernie Sanders this weekend. If that was the plan, I'm thinking he would have mentioned it...

It's like the Psychic Hotline around here these days, with just about the same rate of success.

6. They seem to be doing their level best, don't they? |
|
If you really want to get people's undies bunched up, mention that the Catfood Commission never issued a legal report, and made no recommendations. That's information that, while publicly available, seems to be incapable of penetrating the hive mind of the popular media. Not a week goes by that I don't see at least one and usually more specious citations to the alleged recommendations from the Simpson-Bowles Bipartisan Pooch Screwing Committee and Patent Medicine Show.

7. This Is Not In The Spirit Of This Post, But................... |
|
................I'm a die-hard Cowboys fan living in Ohio. I attend every game they play within driving distance. Last year, my cousin (a die-hard Colts fan) and I made plans to go the Cowboys-Colts game in Indianapolis. We were looking into getting tickets, and then Dallas' season went down the tubes AND they lost Romo to a season-ending injury. I decided that I didn't want to spend the money AND drive 3 hours just to watch my team get blown out by the far superior Colts (and to have to watch Kitna instead of Romo), so we didn't go.
It turned out to be an INCREDIBLE game. High-scoring, it went to overtime, and my Cowboys actually won. I sat there watching it on TV the whole time going, "I knew these jerks would make me regret not going to this game."
So I can sympathize with the title of the post. I know this is not the discussion you were hoping to have when you started this thread, but I thought I would just chime in with my "chose not to go and regretted it" experience. Carry on.
