11. Oh... I don't know. Sit on it, probably.
After all, why would they want to help out our economy by hiring more workers, investing in their businesses putting more capital in circulation?

Corporate hoarders.

12. Most of those companies were Wall Street firms
are you suggesting they hire more bankers and brokers?

How does an investment firm create jobs? And why would a company invest in unneeded capacity? Demand creates jobs.

13. How?
They invest. Invest in getting us off our oil addiction.

Of course that would mean they gave a damn about America and it's little people.
But they don't.

The only reason we have government is for the people.
But our government, and the people are broke and the bankers have the money.

So, either they invest the money, or hand it over. I say we take it and give them minimum wage jobs to keep them off welfare!

14. Invest in what exactly?
Edited on Mon Jul-18-11 03:55 PM by hack89
investing in unneeded capacity is throwing away money. If there is no demand for a product, creating more of it will not do anything except bankrupt the company.

And doesn't getting us off our oil addiction mean closing down many industries and getting rid of all those jobs?

8. This is due to the debt ceiling stand-off
the Government has been spending record amounts of cash to prevent running into the debt ceiling. They are spending cash when in the past they would have simply borrowed money.

(ProPublica)

Altogether, accounting for both bailouts, $573 billion has gone out the door—invested, loaned, or paid out—while $271 billion has been returned.

The Treasury has been earning a return on most of the money invested or loaned. So far, it has earned $61 billion. When those revenues are taken into account, $241 billion is the net still outstanding as of Jun. 27, 2011.
