SO. The U.S. is going to ignore the criminality of Murdoch/NewsCorp |
|
to deal with the "debt crisis", passing up a prime opportunity to clean up its own criminal media enterprise(s) and to regain sanity in the national conversation. Part of the reason we have the "debt crisis" to begin with (along with the "Tea Party") is the insanity that has plagued this nation via the media - and particularly Fox "News" for the past 20 or so years.
Do you think this is wise?

4. Yes of course they will. |

I believe it's the stupidest thing I have ever seen and it shows me that they are just fine with the media as it is. It gives them a lot of cover. The curtain has been pulled back.

5. The FCC needs to lead the way, and then the DOJ steps in! |
|
Remember, there are still a lot of BUSHIE political hacks permeating through the Justice Dept. and there has been real evidence of incompetence in prosecution surfacing these days. The US courts have chastised justice more than once for its incompetent, deceitful prosecutions. Holder has to be sure who he is dealing with before he sets out to get Murdoch. Actually, I wish he would hire Elliot Spitzer and let him go at Murdoch and friends.

9. Well, the DOJ has been "asked" to investigate |
|
Curiously missing from Attorney General Holder's remarks is any indication that he plans to take up the request. But at least we know he opened the e-mail.

12. Based on Holder's remarks, I wouldn't rule it out or in |
|
But if the past practice of the AG's office under Mr. Holder's administration is any indication, Magic 8 Ball says "Signs point to no." Also, considering just how deep the Murdoch empire tentacles penetrate into the body politic, it could be hazardous to any number of political big-shots' health to delve into the alleged crimes. While rooting out political corruption is fine in theory, there are any number of very powerful folks who aren't quite so fine with it in practice (though we shouldn't draw any conclusions from that, being fair-minded libruls and everything).

Bush & Cheney free pass. Wall Street free pass. Murdoch?
If you couldn't or wouldn't see the Evil of the first two, it would be extraordinary to suddenly see it in the third.

13. it appears there will indeed be an investigation and not ignored by the U.S. |
|
It appears Murdoch is already circling his American wagons and hiring corporate lawyers experienced in federal criminal laws... http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jul/18/rupert-murdoch-us-legal-teamIf this then is the case, it appears there will indeed be an investigation and not ignored by the U.S.

This has gotten too big. You have Jude Law suing them over hacking him in New York. They can't ignore it when it is on American soil. You also have people being taken into custody, and someone is going to start singing like a bird in return for immunity.
Not to mention, if it turns out that they hacked the phones of 9/11 victims, nothing is going to be able to shield them from public outrage.
EDIT: Not to mention their stock prices are off 5% right now. It's plummeting. Shareholders tend to get very pissed off about that.
