Bachmann denies migraines ‘incapacitate’ her
Source: Raw Story
By David Edwards

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann (R-MN) responded Tuesday to reports that she suffers from migraines, saying the condition would "not affect my ability to serve as Commander in Chief."

Tucker Carlson's The Daily Caller published an anonymously sourced report Monday alleging that migraines "incapacitate" the Minnesota Republican for "days at a time."

"She has terrible migraine headaches," an unnamed Bachmann adviser told The Daily Caller. "And they put her out of commission for a day or more at a time. They come out of nowhere, and they’re unpredictable."

"When she gets 'em, frankly, she can't function at all. It's not like a little thing with a couple Advils. It's bad... The migraines are so bad and so intense, she carries and takes all sorts of pills. Prevention pills. Pills during the migraine. Pills after the migraine, to keep them under control. She has to take these pills wherever she goes," the adviser added.

1. Oh, those migraines are all in her head.
And she's likely grateful that there's something in there. ;-)

2. Not necessarily migraines. Could be a lot of voices shouting at each other in her head.

7. Yep, that could be deafening, imagine Bachmann talking to Bachmann in her
head at the same time. Also, the cognitive dissonance she has to maintain/balance in her head 7x24 must be headachesome (new word) in itself!

13. Well, this is the ONLY thing I can identify with her
A migraine is just about the most miserable affliction on the planet. I had my first one at age 14 and it lasted a week. My dad thought I was going to die and so did I. It's been 40 years and they still lay me flat out. However, I have managed to hold down a job with them. I am a die hard Detroit Pistons fan and had season tickets in the 1990s glory days with Isiah, Laimbeer, Vinnie Johnson, Salley, and the rest. The hottest rivalry in the conference was with the Chicago Bulls. I hated every player on the team--especially Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen--until I saw Pippen play a conference playoff game with a migraine.

I still hated his guts, but Pippen earned my respect that day. Yeow.

19. Of course she denies everything.

After all, she has an (R) at the end of her name.

Denying is a way of life to them.

20. While I think she's totally batshit insane, it bothers me that ...
... it seems like they're trying to use "migraines" (code for "women's problems", "frail", "weak") to disqualify her - and, women as a concept - from a position of power and authority.

21. I wonder if she has cluster headaches, not migraines
Cluster headaches are some of the most painful things known - way worse than migraines.

Again, tho, if she has these headaches, I wish someone would give her some medical marijuana to try - even tho it's not legal. She would be amazed at how much it helps many people with migraines with very few if any side effects - at least that's the experience for most people.

however, people who have cluster headaches are dealing with yet another level of pain. some research now is being done with LSD to get rid of them.

http://www.newsweek.com/2009/10/14/the-psychedelic-solution.html

of course, both marijuana and LSD are schedule I drugs, which means they have no medicinal value in the eyes of the DEA. however, the view of medical professionals is different.

http://www.alternet.org/drugs/102400/lsd_cured_my_headache/

researchers have applied for permission to study the effect.

22. Advil's Don't Do Shit
as a migraine sufferer, my insurance company would be oh so happy, if only Advil was the answer. They keep trying to get me to choose cheaper migraine meds, because the only one's that work for me, cost a fortune.

24. The Repub establishment is getting nervous about Bachmann possibly winning the nomination.
So, they're doing all they can to torpedo her before the primaries even start.
