2. Don't clump me in with the stupids, thanks! And I would imagine
that the "stupid" people will feel a bit differently when they feel the pinch in their pocket.

5. I know there are exceptions... no offense intended
and I agree with your sentiment about being pinched in the pocketbook. :toast:

3. Not the boomers who protested the Vietnam war and
lived the Sixities Counter-Culture.

4. some of you are, for which I'm glad.
By way of disclaimer: I'm a Gen X'er/Boomer cusp kid. I was born in '64. Generally, I relate to the Gen X'ers, and to the Lost Generation of the 20's and 30's.

I'm glad that some of you boomers who inspired me as a child are still around. Sadly, though, many have given in to the Dark Side, even some of those who protested the Vietnam atrocity.

6. Yep....Most of us dress a little differently now, lol
but we never lost our ideals...and now that we're getting

ready for the Social Security and Medicare we paid DOUBLE into since

1983, we're not about to be ripped off.

Born in '64, huh?....My niece was born

in '68 and her sister the year later...They're both solid Dems.

Generally speaking, it's a lot easier to be "radical" and experimental

when you're a student in your early to mid- twenties with few responsibilities.

When you get older and acquire a family, it can get a lot harder.

That being said, you don't have

to work on Wall Street and vote republican.

Have you met a lot of these "sell-outs" from the Sixties?

8. Yeah, I've run into quite a few of them... my mom was musician in that era
so I'm well-connected.

It seems to be the rule, rather than the exception. I remember this being a particular point of contention with Clinton. I was so happy that a boomer was finally in the WH, and then much to my dismay he continued Ray-Gun/Bush policies (like the 'war' on pot smokers).

On a personal level, most of those radicals I knew as a child (mostly musicians and their husbands and wives) have gotten consistently more conservative over the years. And while few have gone full-blown GOP, many I would call Blue Dogs.

Beyond that, though, I'm glad that there are folks like you still speaking truth to power. :toast:

11. Wow.
It seems strange for musicians, especially...The ones I knew from that era

never really changed...Do you live in a conservative area of country?

I know what you mean about Clinton..both of them, actually. I'm just a couple of years younger than Hillary.

I'm glad that I provide a little "inspiration", anyway, Ixion -- Thanks for your vote of confidence.:pals:

14. I grew up in NE, so, yeah, very conservative....
wildly conservative, in fact. I guess that would explain some of it. :)

Yeah, they're still good people, but definitely more conservative than they were when I knew them in the 70's and 80's.

Glad you're still with us! :hi:

9. I am glad to hear THAT. What could bring about a new awareness "uprising"?

12. I'm thinking on it, Theophilus...
I've been somewhat active in the democratic party for the last twenty

years, and last week a group in my area decided to form a new

chapter of Progressive Democrats of America....I think this

new attack on Social Security and Medicare from Obama and the lamer dems could bring about

serious action....This is, after all, a threat to our

livlihoods and our health.

10. I would like to see several visible and capable people of the Boomer
generation organize a group sort of like an AARP but for Boomers that push for sixties type Progressive action: Clean air, clean water, safe food, Universal Healthcare, Human rights, green energy, infrastructure repair, no foreign wars, etc. This group would put massive pressure (tens of millions) on ALL parties to DO THE RIGHT THINGS, and fix it! I feel that with enough spokespeople who are visible most would agree on these things. They can stay in their party and push the hot button items but these other things should be universal, imo. What do you think?

13. People like Grayson and Kucinich?
They are there. The boomers, however, are stuck on the boob tube.
Busy trying to impress others. Be somebody.

Besides that '60s stuff is like last century. This century started with 9/11. Emergency! Let the pros take care of it. American idol is on now, gotta run...
