Congress should NOT make fundamental changes under DURESS, in a non-transparent process ginned up by

.....a gang of anyone, and presented to Congress at the 11th hour.

Artificially linking the debt ceiling (which is caused by GENERAL fund deficits, primarily military expenses combined with historically low income tax rates on the top 1-2%) to Social Security, is a scam designed to force Congress to continue the raiding of SS (to make up for GENERAL fund deficits, instead of balancing those deficits either with General Fund expense cutting or by increased General Fund revenues - that is, income taxes) under the DURESS of default.

We are being manipulated so that DEFENDERS of SS and MC will be falsely painted as being responsible for default and/or delayed SS checks.

1. Specifically democrats.
Whether republicans would do the right thing is a different argument altogether.

2. Word. The "beat the clock" aspect is perhaps the most galling
part of this entire charade, in the effort to ram it through without any opportunity to deliberate and review the details.

3. You are so right!
We saw this happen in Sept., 2008 ... we can't allow our decisions to be based on "bomb" threats. These people have an all or nothing "we'll blow it up" approach that's modeled after terrorist tactics.
