I hope Mr. 12 dimensional chess is prepared for a re-election campaign |

Where he is blamed for destroying Social Security and Medicare.
Not true of course but he is the guy who gave them the opening to beat him up.

1. Has something transpired? I'm on pins and needles waiting |
|
to see what finally comes down the pike.
I keep saying, Bush's ratings sank when he was yammering about privatizing SS, and I think any politician, Dem or Rep, would be committing political suicide to mess with either. Which is why I'm baffled about the Republicans' pushing it -- but as usual, they probably think they can turn it around and solely blame Obama.
I'm hopeful the House and Senate don't give an inch. It's just wrong. x(

2. Privatization not even on the radar. Obama's support for Chained CPI, raising Medicare age, Gang of |
|
Six, etc. is what will turn public opinion against him.

5. I understand that, but my point was just don't fuck with Medicare or |
|
SS or you'll pay the piper.
We had them over a barrel, I just don't get why we didn't run with it.
There will be ramifications, to be sure. IF it transpires, that's what we don't know for sure yet.

11. Right now, it's the White House and Gang of Six who are making these proposals |
|
this is really bad for the Democrats if any of this passes...Republicans didn't propose these in these discussions.

19. He did not "have them over a barrel" - the fix is in folks. This was all predetermined |
|
in the "meeting before the meeting". Anyone who has worked in Washington knows exactly what I am talking about, even if they won't admit it.

20. It's the Global Austerity program implemented in other |
|
countries that have lost their sovereignty to Global Capitalism. They are avoiding the use of the word 'austerity' here because people have caught on to the whole scheme, but the other Global Capitalism phrase, 'share the sacrifice' was used by the President yesterday. Maybe he slipped, the way Bush Sr. did once when he used the phrase the 'New World Order'.
These 'reforms' or 'shared sacrifices' have nothing to do with the American people and it won't matter how huge a majority oppose them.
It didn't in France, Greece, Spain, Ireland or anywhere else where the corrupt, greedy capitalists have any say in the running of things.

3. I think someone is overestimating the edge that Citizens United |
|
is going to give the campaigns. They don't need to raise as much money from regular people but they still need to work for turnout.

8. We must have a primary challenger, otherwise we're screwed either way |
|
if Obama is this awful before an election year, imagine how bad it will be during a second term when he has nothing to lose? Of course, a Rick Scott/Scott Walker type GOP alternative would work against the bottom 98% in an even more obvious way, but at least the Left would push against them. Either way: without an alternative we get royally screwn.

24. Obama said he was WILLING to be a 1-term if thats what it took |
|
the tea-party was the real wild card. i don't think the people behind the scenes expected their tea-party monsters to think for themselves once elected. much as i dislike the tea-haddists, they are independent as hell, you can't ignore that.
they got in an told the gop establishment to go to hell. They are ignorant fucks and don't understand that EVERYTHING they know is a lie and are going full balls into oblivion thinking that the imaginary man in the sky will make everything better.
Pissed as I am at Obama, I also know this entire mess isn't his fault in the least. I also understand that these teahaddist morans on;t understand that they will be slitting their family's throats with what Obama has put on the table.
Everyone knows im the last to defent Obama anymore, but attack him on the merits of what he's actually done.
he simply put the big 3 on the table, he has yet to sign their death warrants. maybe it's a bluff... personally I think he should let august 2 come and go, and blame the ever living FUCK out of the gop.

The GOP will make sure everyone knows and understands that it was Obama who wanted the cuts to SS/Medicare/Medicaid. Oh yes they will and he is naive if he thinks otherwise.

28. And the hell of it is, he wouldn't have to be if he just governed the way |
|
he campaigned.
He bought the Republican framing, and used their tools which 8 years of Bush PROVED don't work. He ran AGAINST what he is now doing.
He had potential to be one of the great ones.

10. We can't even elect progressives to the House... |
|
...and you think he's scared of us in the Presidential election? Elect a House that can pass progressive legislation and you'll see a much more progressive President. Sometimes I feel like this board has it backwards in terms of how legislation happens.

13. Legislation? What's that? |
|
Real men use signing statements, executive orders, and the bully pulpit.
Legislation is for wussies. That's how Reagan got to invade Nicaragua, and Bush got to privatize social security.
You just have to want it bad enough.

How will it not be his fault?
And don't think for one minute that the repugs will let that slide during the campaign.

As disappointed as I have been over Obama's performance as president this still exceeds my expectations. Republicans will actually campaign using "Obama cut your social security and medicare."

And, in fact, he is the MAJOR player in the attacks on SS and Medicare, because he is the president and has been conspiring with the Crime Gang of Six.
