Why is Ed Schultz defending Michelle Bachmann?
I have the same symptoms that Michelle Bachmann is being accused of when I have mine. They are absolutely debilitating. Of course there are many reasons why she shouldn't be President, but this is a legitimate argument.

1. Maybe because he wants her as the GOP nominee
Oh, and hats off to Michelle Bachmann for voting against cut, cap and balance.

7. She did that...
...because she has said that she will not vote for anything that raises the debt ceiling.

In other words...BatShitBachman© doesn't know how our system currently works and is encouraging default just to prove her Tea Party bona fides...

2. I wrote a reply about this the other day
Once upon a time, the health of a candidate wasn't much of an issue. Now it is. Just look at FDR and JFK. This is about how the media culture has changed and not much more.

19. Glad to see that someone gets it,
If migraines area a significant criteria, neither FDR nor JFK could possibly have been elected if they ran today.

Not to mention that Jed Bartlett had MS. Oh wait a minute.........that one probably doesn't count.......

4. Because this smells of a Rove scheme
Bachmann is batshit crazy and full of weird half backed ideas but this migraine story seems
a little too convenient.

5. Well I really don't think this is defending...it is his opinion that having
migraines is not a reason she shouldn't be president...

8. I've had two during my life and anyone who suffers from them has my heartfelt sympathy.
I didn't want to breathe, let alone think of solving any problems about anything while I suffered through them. It IS a legitimate concern. Perhaps Ed has had them or has seen the effect they can cause and feels badly about anyone going through that kind of pain.

Bachmann shouldn't even be allowed in the hallways of the White House but I am concerned that because she is so horribly unqualified, that a lot of excuses about her will be slanted as *female* health/mental issues/ problems when it has nothing to do with her gender that she is so *gawdawful*....and public opinion about women's abilities to govern will be set back yet again for idiotic reasons.

9. The original report on this was unsourced, with blind quotes
While pleasing to those of us on the progressive side of the spectrum, it is nonetheless a bit disturbing that anyone has to respond to anonymous gossip. Now that a little of that has been visited on the pointy little heads of the Tea Baggers, perhaps journalists will examine their usual practices and clean up their act and not be so eager to aid and abet drive-by attacks.

Damn, I was sooooo close to typing that with a straight face.

10. I get migraines too and they ARE debilitating.
I worry sometimes about getting them more frequently and wonder how I would function if I did. I can't imagine getting a migraine (which can last for days) once a week and being able to deal with much of anything else.

12. Migraines shouldn't be the thing that brings down Bachmann. She deserves defeat on the issues. nt

13. I get them too, and would hate to have that held against me.
There's a million other issues we can hammer her on, we can let this one slide. It makes us look petty.

no problems with someone suffering migraines. As president, HELL no.

16. Excuse me for throwing up in my mouth. I'm about to defend Michele Bachmann...
In the absence of specifics about these medical issues, I have to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she's physically fit to serve. (Mental fitness is another matter...)

FDR was one of our nation's greatest presidents, and he served while crippled with polio. He had to hide the fact that he needed leg braces to stand, and used a wheelchair, but nevertheless got us through the Great Depression and WWII.
