the American attitude is more along the lines of greed, and "I've got mine" selfishness.

Socialism was never a force in America like it is in Europe.

The current proposals w/cuts to SS, Medicare & Medicaid to cut the deficit to balance the budget.
Many on SS (especially women), it is their only income & they must rely on Medicare. Medicaid is for the poor.
