Are Republicans Committing Treason?
http://www.alternet.org/story/151711/are_republicans_committing_treason/

Once upon a time, in a land that now seems to have been populated by tooth fairies and unicorns, there was a political party that had a set of core beliefs to which they actually adhered.

Among them was that actually balancing the budget, as opposed to just talking about it, was sacrosanct. Slow change, while necessary, had to be balanced against the traditions of the United States, ones that had mostly served us well over two centuries.

Foreign military adventures should be limited to our national security interests. And one of the single most important components of diplomacy was protecting the economic interests not only of an elite few, but of the great many Americans who toiled in our factories and fields.

This party was known as the Republican Party, and while one might have disagreed with them on their policy prescriptions to cure any particular US ill, one could at least see some logic in their beliefs and understand that they - with some obvious exceptions from time to time (ahem, Joseph McCarthy, ahem) - were doing what they thought was right for the United States of America.

1. I know I'm never going to be able to hear the word "patriot" without bad feelings for a very very
long time and seeing those little flag lapel pins will make me cautious around the person wearing them.

So much harm to so many millions of people! We MUST never forget!!!

5. it's funny...
whenever I see a pickup truck with an American flag waving from it, my response isn't "What a great patriot!", but something more like "What a moronic redneck!"

10. There is a case to be made for the probability that if you're getting a good enough of a buzzzzzzzzz
off of a given behavior, and plenty of social reinforcers, you would be less likely to explore other behaviors, like the solitary work of independent reading and thinking and exploring and trying to meet new/different people, to find more of the truth, a.k.a. reality, 'cause you've got all you need with your little colored piece of cloth.

(That's the rhetorical "you", of course.)

:hi:

2. I don't get it when republicans claim they are patriots while simultaneously
doing all they can to destroy the country.

9. In 2008 the N. VA GOP voted to call anyone who voted for Obama a "traitor"
as a plan of action for the 2008 election. I have absolutely no problem calling GOPukes traitors now and pointing out specifically why: WMD lies and conspiracy to commit war, creating torture camps, spying on U.S. citizens, creating and spreading propaganda solely for political misinformation.

12. We are in Civil War and have been for some time just without the slaughter.
Military conflict is not feasible this time around but everything else is possible. When the tea party radicals raised by Murdoch are removed from office expect them to go to another level madness.

13. Are they levying war against us? Are they adhering to our enemies?
Are they providing them with aid and comfort?

By an overt act in the presence of two witnesses?

Because if they aren't, they aren't.

Treason is the only crime defined in the Constitution, and for good reason.

17. When the oath to Grover Norquist and gang comes above

the Oath of Office to defend the Constitution, I consider that Treason.
