Schwarzenegger asks court not to award spousal support to Shriver
ormer Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has asked a court not to award spousal support to Maria Shriver, his wife of 25 years, according to papers filed this week.

Schwarzenegger's form response to Shriver's divorce petition, dated Wednesday, contained little indication of how the former first couple's split would play out other than his request that no spousal support be awarded. He also asked that attorney fees and legal costs be jointly paid.

Shriver, whose petition came weeks after her husband publicly acknowledged fathering a child with a longtime household staffer, had asked for support in her court filing. Her attorney, Laura Wasser, requested that costs for the lawsuit be shouldered by Schwarzenegger.

1. Just when you thought Arnold couldn't get any tackier,
he finds a way to show what a selfish, low-class piece of slime he really is. I hope Maria takes him to the cleaners and uses all the money for some of her worthy charitable causes.

2. As much as I have no love for Arnold,
I think this is a pretty standard thing. Everything will be negotiated and frankly it's their business. I am sure that she has a good attorney(s) so I will not worry too much about what her settlement comes to be.

3. There is really no need for support, except as a punitive measure, and that's not how it
is supposed to be used. Shriver has more money than most gods and will not suffer any hardship if she doesn't receive a chunk of Arnie's change. I think it's pretty tacky of her to seek it - purely punitive, and spousal support is *not* supposed to be a punitive measure.
