Cut Social Security and Medicare Now, End Tax Breaks in the Future

What kind of moron would make an agreement to cut Social Security and Medicare now with a promise to raise revenue sometime in the future? Does anybody remember the deal in 2001 that tax cuts for the rich would expire in 2010? And when 2010 rolled around the mantra was "don't raise taxes on the job creators"...

Please stop me before I do something stupid like believing Republicans will live up to their side of an agreement and not weasel out when it comes time for them to live up to their end of the bargain.
