5. Sorry, this is making us all punchy

I don't mean to piss on someone's dream. At this juncture, though, I don't see any oxygen available for reasonable, popular notions that would actually address the "critical" problems the popular media are obsessing over. And for some reason, this administration and the Democratic leadership in Congress don't seem to be interested in doing any lifting at all for their stated principles. If it doesn't get a near 100% approval, every progressive proposal is doomed to the scrap heap even if it polls 60% or 70%.

Texas is now claiming that the Department of Treasury has set August 2 as the deadline for raising the fallaciously named ‘debt ceiling’ not because August 2 is the date when Treasury will no longer be able to pay the nation’s current debts without more borrowing, but because Obama’s Big-Five-Oh is to be celebrated on August 3 ...
