18. The benefits that President Obama got extended for 16 months. |
|
If the tax agreement had not been reached, the Bush tax cuts would have expired, but millions of americans could be without food on the table now. The future is hard to predict, no one knows for sure that cancellation of the tax cuts would not have lifted the economy and increased hiring, but no one knows that it would have not done anything. What was sure was that millions of people would have their unemployment benefits expire in two weeks had President Obama not acted. Worship Bernie Sanders all you want, I doubt that put in the same position, Sanders would not have made the same choice.

13. And there would have been no continuing extension of unemployment |
|
benefits after the first 26 weeks. As someone who is now in his 36th week of unemployment, I'm glad Obama conceded the tax cuts so as to secure the extension of UC.

5. Yes the Bush tax cuts (likely all of them) would have expired |
|
But only because that would have required simply passing no bill, and hence, they expire. Congress might have passed an extension, but a President would have veteoed it, and it would have been sustained.
But it terms of affirmative legislation and new programs and policies, nothing.

6. Less than Obama is my guess. |
|
Because we've never really had a true Democratic majority. You can't pull an 'all or nothing' with this Congress, especially since it is largely driven by ideologues who really don't give a shit about the American people so much as they want to continually masterbate to their own vision.

Of more war, less rights for women, prayer in schools, privatizing social security, ending what little gun regulation remains, more tax cuts for the rich, ending all regulations for corporations, drilling all over?
