How many teabagger votes are there in the House?
I'm asking this and also making an assumption that may not be safe at all.

Let's assume that the long time repubicans who are not "Tea Party Favorites" actually give a shit. There is evidence that non teabaggers are getting pretty fed up with the intransigence of the ignorant dumbasses who claim to be teabaggers. I am using that as the basis for my assumption: The repubicans would join with some Democrats to get a debt limit extension done . . . . maybe even into 2013 to take it out of the election rhetoric, where the teabaggers would make life unbearable for everyone - and downright dangerous, politically - talking about it.

I think Boner has lost control of his caucus. I think Cantor has lost the confidence of the non teabaggers. This pretty much leaves the repubicans leaderless.

Assuming it is Cantor v Boner, who controls more votes? Add in some Dems, and do we have enough votes to get nothing more than a debt extension through the House?

I think the Senate will vote for an clean extension bill.

Is this possible?

1. I think that it's not the number of votes to pass the Debt Ceiling bill that Boehner's worried about
b/c he can get democrats to cross over if he compromises. What he's worried about is the number of votes that Teabaggers in the House will cast to replace him with Cantor as Speaker before the dust settles. The real drama is the power grab by Cantor. Why do you think he's insinuated himself in the "negotiations"? His main job in the House is to round up votes, not set the policy.

3. In a power fight, Cantor will lose, I think. But Boner would be so weakened as to also, effectively,
lose.

5. Wow, those Koches are good.
I take it that they were made to sign a no new tax pledge and that's what Obama and Boner have been trying to work around.

6. Significant, to be sure, but not a majority of the repubs.
I wonder, in a head to head, who would win. I think the non teabaggers would.

4. I agree
it looks like the Repubs are split which makes them weak. Good. But, unfortunately, I think this will impede the process of negotiations and we actually COULD default on our loans.

7. There are 56 in the House and 4 in the Senate

The Dems would need a couple dozen repukes to cross over to pass something assuming all 56 teabaggers in the House vote...

8. Teabaggers votes or those afraid of teabagger votes?
There's a difference.

9. That's an excellent point
If they're afraid to vote counter to the teabaggers, then they're, effectively, teabaggers.

10. I am wondering how the approval rates are going for
the tea party folks? Is there a chance to replace any of them next time or will they effortlessly get re-elected and continue this craziness in america....

13. Teabaggers Control the State Governments in their States
As we speak, they are gerrymandering, enacting new voter ID laws (and then closing down places for Democrats to get those IDs),
purging voter lists, moving and closing down polling places, and generally using every form of voter suppression available to stay in power.
And then there's the voting machines.
