I know why there are no "revenue increases" in the deal Harry Reid spoke about |
|
it's because Progressives are not marching in the streets and demanding them.
It's because Progressives are not chasing Tea Baggers through the streets with pitchforks and torches.
It's becuase Progressives are not throwing shit at Republicans and Tea Baggers at town hall meetings.
It's because, like it or not, we've surrendered the Government to Tea Baggers and Limbaugh Dildo-heads.
It's because John Boehner and the Tea Baggers can't make a move without the approval of "Jabba the Rush".
It's because we as Americans...SUCK!

2. Call/e-mail your reps and Sens. Every day. I'm going to keep |
|
inserting this into everything just like the Republicans insert "it's not a revenue problem, it's a spending problem" every time they open their mouths. No matter what the topic.
Just warning y'all.

3. We, the majority of the American people, have told the |
|
president and boner and all of congress that the American people want higher taxes on the more wealthy of this country how much louder do we need to be??
It is because no one is listening to us, only the big donors get to be heard

7. Exactly!!! We naively assume these people represent us, that they |
|
care about what we think, that they are dependent on us for funding and votes. Americans really need to get a clue, they do not give a F about you (many of them), they don't need your money, and voting is getting more contrived.
We're like little school kids bringing the teacher an apple and hoping for better treatment.
How I miss George Carlin!

10. Why, becasue that's what the polls say? |
|
really? that's all we need to do? Just answer a few poll questions?
Now, if the news was showing that John Boehner couldn't leave his house for a smoke without an angry American getting in his face, then I would say we've done enough to send a message that we want tax increases for the wealthy on the table.

13. And they have so insulated themselves that you can not |
|
get close to them
They refuse to answer questions from the people. They have their bodyguards push people out of the way They have people thrown out of offices
I call, I write and yet rarely get a response and then it is mostly form letters So what should we do?? Sit out side their houses with pitchforks?? Storm Congress with our own armies?? When Congress has put up so many walls between themselves and the people they work for. They have forgotten who they work for.

Check out my FB page Protests around America. It's not that the people are not protesting, it is just that the media is ignoring them. If one tea partier shows up they get coverage, where thousands or progressives are invisible. Scott Walker has to change his schedule to avoid protesters who greet him everywhere he goes. We are getting F@#$%d because we have a president with no backbone. We have a Republican party who has taken over the country and is taking hostages, shutting down states, government agencies, wreaking havoc and not being held accoutable by ANYONE. If Bush had to pay for his war crimes maybe they would not be so bold. But I do hear your frustration. I was kind of hoping you had a Lawrence O'Donnell theory where this was all just a ploy and that we really would not be caving to the demands of the psychopaths in Congress. I think a lot of so -called Democrats are in on this too. They all get money from lobbyists. We are just the fools who get the good "I will put on a pair of comfortable shoes" speech when election times comes around. I may be on the wrong board, but I will vote for someone besides Obama if this goes down. Heck I will write in Bernie Sanders even if he does not run

8. There is almost $4 trillion in revenue if we lapse the Bush cuts as scheduled. |
|
If we don't lapse them THEN we need to be marching in the streets.

9. The teaklan caucus signed a pledge not to raise taxes |
|
so, with massive, migraine producing irony, Obama seems to be trying to find a way to cut a deal that honors that pledge by not raising taxes until after their term is over.

11. That's because most Americans are scared that when |
|
they get into the top 1% (as they are sure they will) they may not enjoy those slightly higher taxes. I mean, they worked hard to get there and no government will take their hard-earned money from them.

12. It's because Repubicans won't pass them. |
|
The Senate can write all the revenue raising bills they want, and they will not pass through the House elected bya majority of the American people who voted in 2010.

But at this time, attempts to raise revenue by the President or the Senate must get through the House, that works on a simple majority.
It ain't happening.
