I was discussing the debt ceiling issue with a friend today. I explained that I thought the President, Senate and House would wait till we stop counting down by weeks and days to hours and minutes, then they would come up with a plan which no one likes but sell it by saying they didn't have a choice. He misunderstood me, thinking I meant they decided on a plan weeks ago but because it cuts the social safety net and increases taxes, they don't want anyone to know because they would be held responsible, but by waiting till the last minute it will look like they averted disaster took the BAD plan to prevent watching the countries economy fall worst than the great depression, then everyone will accept the outcome without calling for a total recall of the whole bunch. At first I thought that was silly, but the more I think about it the more I think he may be right. What do you all think?
