Loughner obsessed with the Constitution
(all that is missing is Glenn Beck's chalk board)

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/09/AR2011010904478.html?hpid=topnews&sid=ST2011010904711

U.S. sees evidence of assassination plot

<snip> "After about three weeks of class, McGahee said, there was a final confrontation: Loughner arrived and pointed to a copy of the U.S. Constitution on the wall.

" 'You're violating my First Amendment right of free speech,' " McGahee recalled him saying."That's when I went to go get the dean." A college official came, and Loughner was removed permanently from the class.

He was not suspended from the school for another few weeks, until college officials discovered Sept. 29 that he had posted a video on YouTube calling the college "unconstitutional." After that, Loughner agreed to withdraw." <snip>

1. This needs to be sent
by the thousands to Boner's office and everyone's Senator and Congresscritter. The bastards need to know that WE KNOW wtf has been going on while they're either ignoring it, playing it or they're truly brain dead.

4. This is scary. No wonder his classmates were freaking out
"McGahee said Loughner disrupted his very first class by yelling, "How can you deny math instead of accepting it?" In later classes, he shouted, listened to his mp3 player and wrote nonsensical answers on his tests. One said "Eat + Sleep + Brush Teeth = Math.""

5. The problem is the 'crazy,' not the Constitution
The problem is the 'crazy,' not the Constitution.

I'm beginning to worry that in our condemnation of right-wing vitriol and the craziness that it has engendered (both of which need condemnation for sure), some may be tempted to toss-out more of our foundation national document. This would be a mistake. The Constitution does not belong to the right wing; it belongs to all of America. The system of government it designed has worked tolerably well for more than two centuries (with admitted serious flaws throughout that time), and the liberties it enshrines are truly fundamental.

I have a bumper sticker on my car that says "I am a Constitution voter." Does that make me a rw-crazy?

Just below those words, the same sticker says "American Civil Liberties Union."

6. And yet, Boehner and Cantor go on the floor of the House as if they have sole possessory
rights over it's words and the sole agenda to exercise what it means.

AS IF the Constitution had to be read, because the Obama Administration had gotten so far afield of it.

7. Yup, that's a problem.
I wouldn't mind the RW 'embracing' the Constitution, if they would only start abiding by it and applying it to themselves. But this nonsense of them acting like they own the thing, all the while trashing it via the Patriot Act, etc. has got to stop.

:hi:

9. The right wing has done to the constitution what they did to religion
They've claimed it as their own despite spitting on it every chance they get.

10. Time for good people to take them back!
I'm not religious, but I do consider myself an admirer of principled people of faith who put their beliefs into nonviolent action: MLK of course, but also the Berrigan brothers, the Christians who are arrested every year protesting the School of the Americas, etc.

And when it comes to the Constitution, it belongs to all of We the People. I hope 'We' all embrace and uphold it for the good of our country.

Maybe he can take some do some real constitutional study over the next 200 years in prison.
