Tired of 'dealing with the crazies,' Christie defends Muslim judge

Gov. Christie attended the swearing-in ceremony yesterday for his nominee for a Superior Court judgeship despite rabid opposition by conservatives who feared that the man, an Indian-American Muslim, would enforce Islamic Shariah law instead of the U.S. Constitution.

"Shariah law has nothing to do with this at all, it's crazy, the guy's an American citizen who has been an admitted lawyer to practice in the state of New Jersey swearing an oath to uphold the laws of the state of New Jersey, the constitution of the state of New Jersey, and the constitution of the United States of America...

"So this Shariah law business is crap, it's just crazy, and I'm tired of dealing with the crazies. Its just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background."
