Ohioans flood lawmakers with debt debate concerns
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohioans are calling, writing and tweeting at their congressional lawmakers in droves about their concerns over the debt showdown in Washington and the potential for a government default.

Many calls pouring into offices on Capitol Hill and back home are from older folks worried that their Social Security checks won't show up.

A spokesman for Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur says many callers are pleading for a resolution to the situation but largely avoiding the partisan tone that arose during debate over the sweeping health care overhaul.

A tea party group leader in GOP House Speaker John Boehner's home area of Cincinnati says some Republicans worry Boehner's current plan doesn't take strong enough steps to solve the debt problem.

3. Are all of these calls making any sort of difference? Have any House members changed their minds?
It was great for Obama to encourage people to contact Congress; but if not a single member changes their minds and now is more open to a deal, what good has come of it? Is pissing off the voters by voting against their wishes good enough for us?
