when people get angry at all the crap going on in Washington, they vote for the party that is the most anti-washington: the Republicans. Said the GOP have been destroying Washington, gutting it and causing calamity there and getting the resulting disgust vote for 30 years. How do we counter this? Cause we know they fight for small increments of the vote in order to win big elections.

5. Keep working for and voting Democratic
and support more progressive candidates for office when possible but still work for and elect moderates and Blue Dogs when necessary (as long as they can demonstrate some basic allegiance to Democratic Party principles If they fail to do so, primary them when they come up for re-election). Also, keep fighting against voter disenfranchisement (including laws that unfairly and IMHO unconstitutionally punish ex-offenders for life) efforts and attempts at election fraud. We know that the GOP does everything to hold the turnout down b/c when the turnout is high, they can't lie, connive, and steal elections. Encourage your friends, family members to vote, particularly when they start complaining about how bad things are getting. Remind people that following politics isn't just a "hobby" and that paying attention to politics and voting determines who runs the country.
