Bush explains his "deer in the headlight moment" on 9/11
Edited on Fri Jul-29-11 09:49 AM by Cyrano
According to Jr., he knew what he was doing. He "didn't want the children to panic." He "needed to show he was calm." Click here for his version of "reality."

Actually, all that he left out is that he was clueless and had no one to tell him what to do.

Nonetheless, countless idiots will buy into the crap he's selling.

2. And he is still lying his ass off.
Because he knew BEFORE he went into the school.

3. I've never understood this narrative. I think someone sitting there, not moving or saying anything,
Edited on Fri Jul-29-11 09:55 AM by Brickbat
with a distant look on his face is a lot more distressing than a person who can say, "Children, I hate to stop reading because I want to find out what happens next! Unfortunately, Mr. Card just told me I have a very important question to answer (or situation to deal with, or whatever), and I hope you will write to me and tell me how this book ends. I have had a lovely time. The annoying thing is that sometimes being president even interrupts reading time, and I hate that." And then you get up calmly and walk out, while having one of your 17 people in your entourage go over and tell the teacher what's going on.

5. Moore's movie pretty much kills him
You watch that and you see an OH SHIT in my pants moment, not leadership. For 6 minutes he was youngest child in that room. Video speaks louder than his words. Nixon wasted the rest of his life trying to rewrite his history too.

odd and very disturbing. Much scarier than simply doing what you said and making an excuse to leave.

6. Bush is ALWAYS selling crap
I blame Bush for a lot, believe me, and this particular incident sure looks bad on camera. But I can understand how anyone would have been stunned at a moment like this. The guy was always something of a dim bulb, but I found a lot more to be outraged about in his pursuit of an immensely costly war under false pretenses, his attack on minority faiths, his stem-cell and environmental policies (and war on science in general) ... too much to mention here.

7. Ok
If he didn't know what was going on already, he showed a tremendous lack of leadership and a great deal of flagrant indecision. Which, according to his followers, is a lie. He was, according to his lackeys, great at making decisions and leading.

But if he knew what was going on he was, as he claims, being calm.

It is one or the other: he knew and stayed calm, or he fooled all of his supporters.

I, being no supporter, knew he knew what he new before I knew. And now we all know: He knew.

11. How you doing Donald Rumsfeld?
Last sentence is Rumsfeldian!

Nah, Cheney was running the country that day. They even lied who gave the shoot down orders.

If a D President had frozen like Bush that day they'd have probably been drawing up impeachment papers!

13. Somehow, I think the children kept him from panicking.
He was probably wondering how many of the little rug rats he'd need to put in front of him should there be any violence. A Prez has to be protected at all costs, right?!

Seriously - it's unabashedly clear that he was wondering what the hell to do. Dick wasn't there to tell him, and he knew he was going to have to make a decision. Stupidity is simply hard to deny sometimes, and for Bush, this is one of those moments.

He should just 'fess up and quit lying to the world.

16. The Look...
Card bent down and whispered something like "It's begun". Bush sat there looking like someone who just learned a hit was carried out; guilty, terrified, and wondering if he'd actually get away with it...

18. Wasn't it "America is under attack"?
or something-and yet bush just sits there-doesn't ask "what kind of attack, nuclear? bombs? poisin?
guns? HOW COULD HE JUST SIT THERE??? It never made sense to me then, and it doesn't now-somebody"s lying about something.

19. Yes, the "I didn't want to alarm the kids" story is total BS
First, Bush doesn't think that fast. Second, this isn't a guy known for tact or appropriate behavior in *any* circumstance. It's crazy, he didn't even look at Card. The natural automatic reflex upon hearing that kind of news would have been to turn and study the messenger's face. You know, a "WTF are you kidding me???" look. Whatever he heard was no surprise.

17. I don't know what I find more appalling ...
the fact that it took him 10 years to come up with that lame-ass excuse or the fact that he didn't even bother to offer an excuse until 10 years after the attacks!
