My Selfish Question: If we default, do we pay government contracts or shutdown jobs?
Im working on a large marine construction project for the Army Corps of Engineers and I'm wondering if we default if the Army CoE will have money to pay the contractors or if they'll shut the project down. My company will be fine, but I'm asking because most of these idiots on this job are raging repukes-bordering on teabaggery and asshattery. I'd love to see the realization when it hits them that the job might be suspended on Aug 2 (if it is) and whether or not they might get paid.

4. I'll be fine. There's a research project starting up and my friend needs crew for his boat
plus, my company only has two people in the field right now and would be able to pay us anywhoo.

I love these guys that complain about government spending but have no probs cashing their pay checks. They've been on this CoE job for more than 3 years now. They think "the government" is some imaginary beast that just pays welfare queens for unlimited babies. They dont realize they've been nursing from her ample teet for years.

2. I think the truth is...
No one knows exactly. My guess would be money for inftastructure projects would not go out. But Treasury hasn't announced which checks will go out and which won't.

Also, sadly... hardcore repukes who feel some personal pain from this? Likely to blame Obama/Dems.

3. Oh, the sacred government contracts will get paid no matter what.
But Grandma will have to dumpster dive and live in a back alley, and federal employees will be unpaid. Betcha pensions for federal employees and military (except for Congress) will also go unpaid.

Congress will see to it that their own pay is uninterrupted.

6. it's an Army Corps rental job
I dont know too many of the details. The contract is a year long job that just got upped for another year, so I'd assume they've got funding
